We hired Dag Masonry to supply and install new stucco to a house that we were renovating. The following spring after the job was complete we noticed cracks appearing in the stucco on the house in several places. Dag Masonry was contacted and they came to the home on numerous occasions and attempted to repair some of the cracks by simply applying a color top coat to the areas that were cracked. Their repair attempts were not successful as the cracks still were apparent and the coloring was much darker where the repairs had been attempted. We contacted 2 professional stucco companies to have them come out and give us a quote to fix these cracks. Both companies offered the same explanation as to why the cracks were not properly fixed by just having a Colored top coat applied over top the cracks as Dag masonry was doing. Both companies explained that there needed to be a filler put into the cracks and then the whole home needed to be painted so it conceals the repairs. When we contacted Dag Masonry to discuss the findings and information from the other stucco companies, Dag Masonry said that these two other professional companies don't know what they are talking about. He went on to blame myself for the problem because he said the temperature wasn't right to put the top coat on and I explained to him that I never installed it I hired you to install it so I'm confused as to why you think I have any responsibility. I have it on record that Dag Masonry has offered us a cash settlement yet they have withdrawn it. I have reached out to their head office in Edmonton and reported the issues. Head offices response was that they will look at it in the spring. I feel that I have been patient and understanding and I am not interested to wait until spring.
