We went to Bemister beginning of April. ***** said the car was well taken care of, just one owner and no issue we should worry about. So we trusted and bought it. A few weeks after purchasing the car we were getting problems already, the car was stalling whenever it stopped. It was a few times at the beginning and then it started being every time it stopped. We inspected a few things and came to the surprise that the engine air filter was in the worst conditions. It was filthy, with bugs, and dirt accumulated over time. The car air filter was in the same conditions. This didn’t help so we went back to the shop, ***** took our car and scanned the engine light code, he said it was just a maintenance thing, something to do with the crankshaft sensor and said he will check it later that day and call us back the next day. That call never happened, we called consistently every single day and he said he was still working on it but never told us about the problem or how much it was gonna cost, which we made very clear that we wanted to know before anything was replaced. My partner went later that week because ***** was not answering the calls and we came to know that he replaced a part (exhaust valve)that he never mentioned that was the issue and wanted to charge us $500 without us agreeing in the first place. After testing the car, the replacement didn’t fix the problem and he said we would need to go to the dealership. We waited one more day and then decided to take our car to another mechanic as Bemister was negligent. We went to a different mechanic. We waited another week and the mechanic said they issue was the engine itself. The crankshaft was overheating and they needed to replace the engine which was a $4000 job. We went to the dealership too, and they gave the same diagnosis. ***** ignored our calls and messages. We discovered the engine light code we were getting was reseted 14 times in the past. We suspect that the shop knew of the problem before selling it.
