      Had my eyes tested 8/18/21 got Prescription from ************* Newmarket Dr. ************* Shopped for frames. ************* had frames didn't find anything suitable. 08/ 30/21 Hakim Optical had terrific sale 60% off plus 10% as I am Senior. Found frames purchased 3 sets total bill was $2907.00 less $1744.20 plus $116.28 senior discount. I paid $1046.52 Received two pair in Sept. had to wait for the third pair they said the red frame came in they determined wasn't right and sent back. waited a few more weeks. I picked them up early Oct. the manager said I picked them up Sept. 28. previously told wear them for a few months get used to them Wore Red pair & early Dec. went back to Hakim the lenses weren't right & frame lost some crystals also having difficulty seeing clearly mostly on the left side. Hakim said I needed to go to ************* it's is a Prescription problem, glasses made as per Prescription Hakim couldn't do anything about lense but would change the frame, they had to order another frame lense would not be replaced as it had been over 2 mths since received glasses. Seen Dr. **** as per Hakim, Dec. 26 - re-assessed - given a new Prescription slight difference Explained bought 3 sets at Hakim - having problem seeing clearly -Hakim said it was Prescription - Dr. **** told me to go to Hakim who should take care of the problem since I got 3 glasses - Hakim should replace the lenses. Email recv'd ************* offered me to purchase new glasses for 50% off - Hakim said they would replace the lenses for $700.00 for all 3 - Got a phone call yesterday from ************* saying they would give me a new pair of glasses from them for free. Older adults in Ontario who are capable have the right to make their own decisions - choose what is best for themselves expect services to enhance capacity maintain control over their destiny and decisions preserve and maintain their quality of life.- should be able to live in dignity and security and be free of exploitation

      Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/01/11) */ Hakim Optical has a one time 60 day prescription guarantee. This means if an eye doctor (even one that does not have a relationship with us) makes a mistake with our patients prescription, Hakim Optical will cover the cost of the doctors mistake and replace the lenses in all purchased glasses within 60 days. This is not industry standard, as opticals are not required to do so. Unfortunately ***** *************'s prescription is 146 days old (4 months and 3 weeks) as of January 11th 2022. Hakim Opticals policy in replacement of lenses past 60 days is 30% off regular price. Even with this policy, Hakim Optical has offered Mrs ***** ************* an option to pay a service fee to change the lenses of all three pairs of her glasses. I believe discount of 64% ($1950-64%=$700) to cover the costs of the materials for her custom lenses, is more then fair. A question Mrs ***** ************* should ask is; why isn't Dr. ******** **** at ************* in Newmarket paying for the lenses? It was Dr ****'s a mistake in Mrs ***** *************'s prescription, not Hakim Opticals in filling out said prescription. Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2022/01/12) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) Went to Hakim early Dec to complain. I could not see clearly - was told to come back as Mgr. not in - red glasses picked up early Oct. as they were not ready at same time as other 2 - My prescription was done 8/18/22. glasses purchased 8/30/22 - Didn't receive glasses until end of Sept. which means Oct/Nov wore them then went back early Dec. Mgr not there was told to come back - I went to Hakim in approx. 60 days after purchase to resolve issue. I have been back and forth between Hakim and ************* - ****** has offered one free pair and Hakim offered me replacement at $700. This is not fair to me at all. Bottom line is I cannot see clearly with my new glasses at no fault of my own and feel totally taken advantage of by both companies. I complied with everything in order to receive glasses I can see out of.
