- Service or Repair Issues
- Status:
- Resolved
Date of emergency auto service: May 21, 2022 Date of Repairs to vehicle: May 25, 2022 Diagnosis on May 21, 2022- Failed thermostat. Charged $200 in cash for diagnosis, no receipt provided and cost was told to be $250 if we wanted to pay any other way. Unable to repair vehicle that day as the thermostat we ordered was incorrect and vehicle remained on their hoist with parts out of it until correct part was locatable after long-weekend. Obtained part from VW dealership for $88.14 and hand delivered it to the garage on May 25th for the reassembly. This took the garage nearly all morning and some other unrelated part was told to us it became broken, but it was not of concern as it was an irrelevant part and they said it was not their doing, so they gave the piece which we have still to this day and will eventually repair ourselves. The reason for this complaint is we then paid the shop $662.55 on credit card for the final repair bill and were reassured they reattached everything properly and the vehicle was fully safe to drive. Sadly, the following day (just over 1700km’s away) the vehicle broke down as the engine temperature increased suddenly and after pulling over immediately the coolant was pooled on the ground under the car and no new coolant could be added as it was pouring out the bottom instantly. We knew something they did must have disconnected and it was no longer driveable. A generous man driving by with a flatbed offered to tow the vehicle in the correct direction for us as it was on a road-trip from ONT to SK. He towed it to VW dealership in Regina and we gave him $200 cash. Taylor VW in Regina confirmed faulty work done by ***’s shop and billed us $230.30 to reattach radiator hose and add coolant and ensure no other issues were present. When this result was informed to ***, he denied his worker’s ever making errors and said he would not help with any compensation or asking any responsibility for this occurring. *** avoided contact and was hostile.Business response

Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********. I am only accepting this cheque from Guy as it is all he is willing to provide me for the expenses that resulted from his employees errors. It does not cover the full cost of the tow fee and vehicle repairs; however, he does not agree to pay the full costs so I have accepted the $300 he was willing to pay in order to move on from this traumatic experience all together.
Sincerely,
********
