About Us
BBB serving Canton Region & Greater West Virginia was founded in 1961. Our service area covers 12 counties in South Eastern Ohio and 52 counties in West Virginia.
Programs and Services
Shred Day Events
Also known as "Shred Day", this program is dedicated to helping consumers avoid becoming victims of identity theft. To combat stolen personal information, we provide a free event for consumers to shred an unlimited amount of their personal documents.
BBB® Charitable & Educational Fund, Inc.
In January 2012 the Better Business Bureau of Canton Regional/Greater West Virginia formed an education foundation, the BBB® Charitable and Educational Fund, Inc. (CEF). CEF is a 501(c)3 charitable organization that supports the BBB's vision of an ethical marketplace, where buyers and sellers can trust each other.
Golf Outing
The BBB golf outing fundraiser is held in August each year to help raise funds to support the BBB's mission of advancing marketplace trust in the communities we serve.
BBB Life Lessons Essay Contest
BBB Life Lessons is a theme-based essay scholarship contest that challenges students to reflect on living a life of ethics and integrity. This contest is available to any high school senior attending schools located in the Canton BBB's 64 county service area. There is no GPA requirement to apply. Scholarship funds must be used to attend a career/technical, college, university or trade school after high school graduation. Straight Talk
Straight Talk is a weekly tips column produced by the BBB and published in the Canton Repository, Massillon Independent, Times Reporter, The Press News/Alliance Review, The Free Press Standard, Clay County Free Press, Mountain Messenger, Glenville News, The Herald Dispatch, Bargain Hunter and The Budget. The articles help local consumers to avoid fraudulent practices.
Military Line
This national BBB program offers expedited services and consumer education to military personnel and their families assisting them with disputes and scams. BBB® Charitable and Educational Fund, Inc. works to identify scam activity and alerts for all military divisions to prevent them from falling victim.
Charity Seal
This nationally recognized BBB charity program provides consumers with 501(c)3 nonprofit evaluation reports. Evaluations are derived from the BBB Wise Giving Alliance Standards for Charity Accountability.
Speakers Bureau
Our speakers bureau and education service programs helps provide advice for consumers on a wide range of topics, scam alerts, fraud alerts and other marketplace issues with the goal of helping to avoid them.
