Founded in 1877, Royal Arcanum in Boston offers affordable life insurance to middle- and lower-income families. As a non-profit fraternal society, profits benefit the community through scholarships, projects, and member services.

Forever Love Weddings, founded by Trevor Clark-Zamoider in 2019, specializes in personalized ceremonies celebrating love stories. They offer weddings and vow renewals, adapt to virtual planning, and collaborate with local vendors across New England.

Thayer & Associates, a family-run property management firm since the 1930s, manages over 7,000 properties. Led by fourth-generation owner Candice Morse, they emphasize communication, community support, and education to uphold property values.

When tech executives Charles Johnson, John Lunny, Richard Nemec, Anirudh Kumar, Bob Giordani and Nathan Meyers experienced the challenges of managing end-of-life affairs for their loved ones, they were inspired to use technology to make it easier and started LifeCloud, Inc.

The inception of Such A Voice started in the late 80’s, when the founder, a commercial producer, frequently found himself training voice talent on the job and recognized a significant gap in quality training for aspiring voice-over artists.

Hawkeye Fiber Optics is a fiber optics construction company in Poland, Maine. Founded in 2015 by Ryan Hawkes, the business specializes in constructing the infrastructure necessary for modern communication technologies.

The husband-and-wife team, Sonya and Jacob Livshits, founded BooksTime in 2016 in Newton, MA. The duo and their third co-founder, Jesse Gildesgame, started BooksTime, with a mission to simplify financial management for small business owners.

Mike Reynolds, founder and owner of Mosquito Mike, transitioned into the pest control industry after years of running a seasonal tax business. "I saw an ad for pest control and wanted to do something that kept me busy year-round.

After years working for major national moving companies, founder Domenic Fazio decided to branch out on his own and start Movers on the Go in 1997. Moving on the Go is a family-owned, full service moving company in Revere, MA.

Megha Patil, founder of Happy Lilliput, is a biochemist turned apparel designer and fashion business consultant in Acton, MA, shared her journey to entrepreneurship with us. Growing up in India, Megha always wanted to become a fashion designer but pursued a career in biochemistry.

The origin story of Maine’s Finest Cleaners of Pittston, Maine can inspire future entrepreneurs. In addition to being business partners, co-owners Nikeisha Austin and Lillian Deeds are in-laws, and a tragic event brought them closer together.

Joshua Davis owns Maine Recon, an auto-detailing business in Saco, ME. In 2011, Davis’ part-time job laid the foundation for what would become a flourishing career where. Davis’ boss introduced him to the meticulous art of detailing limousines.

For over 39 years, Gibraltar Pools, a family-owned business, spanning three generations, has been designing on-ground pools and creating backyard oases for families throughout New England. "our pools are designed to endure the New England weather."

Erin DiCarlo and Lauren Watts, co-owners of the Dovetail Companies in Wilmington, MA, noted that elders are often left out of conversations about their own living arrangements. They advocate to help older adults transition to their next life stage.

Patrick M. Culhane, P.C. founded his law office in 2001 in Braintree, MA and offers services spanning estate planning, bankruptcy and real estate. The attorney chose to pursue a legal career in midlife, which inspired him to start his own practice.

Peter Horch, owner of Horch Roofing in Warren, ME, shared his founder's story, illustrating the challenges and triumphs of starting and growing a successful business. Before launching his roofing business, he worked for another roofer for five years.

Kian Bonvan owns Cape & Islands Builders Group Inc. “Right now, we do all forms of quality building and remodeling, custom new construction homes and a lot of high-end kitchen and bathroom renovations—pretty much all construction inside and out."

Fagner Mirelio Lima Rodrigues owns Coast Carpentry Home Improvement, Inc. in Sandwich, MA. Serving Cape Cod, the construction company offers carpentry, roofing, siding, gutters, deck building and painting for residential clients.

David Towle, owner of David Towle & Sons Excavating shared that the business has a rich history. His father started the company in the late 1970s, and today it serves all of Rhode Island and parts of Massachusetts.

Sisters Jill Lufkin-Robinson and Jane Hall, both registered nurses, shared a vision to provide medically complex children and adults with the medical support and care needed to keep them at home with their families. They founded Home, Hope & Healing.

Jot S Khalsa owns Khalsa Raj in Millis, MA, where he designs, creates and sells fine jewelry, artful objects and collectible knives. His artful designs can also be purchased via Khalsa Raj’s online store.

DR Power Equipment’s roots trace back to1985 where their story began. Today, DR Power Equipment, a division of Generac Power Systems since 2016, offers equipment to tame your outdoor space whether it be your backyard or your back 40 acres and beyond.

The journey of Sundara Skincare began in February 2022, born from founder Andrea Lacey's desire to redefine beauty standards and cultivate deeper connections with her clients. The business is a sanctuary where beauty meets holistic wellness.

Massachusetts native Cliff Ambrose worked in management at a large insurance company for years and had a small financial advising practice on the side. Then in 2019, Ambrose decided to go all in on his business, opening Apex Wealth.

Kevin Patrick Seaver founded The Law Office of Kevin Seaver in Boston over 30 years ago. His journey into law and the establishment of his firm represent his commitment to justice and belief in the power of individual agency.

Laurie Goldsmith, along with her husband of 28 years, operates Laurie's Certified Construction in Colchester, VT. With over four decades of experience, Goldsmith's company aims to provide personalized and detail-oriented construction services.

Decarney Roofing is a local business out of Beverly, MA that services the North Shore. Third-generation roofer Mario DeCarney began his entrepreneurial journey in 2017 after working for years with his father.

Cambridge Scientific, in Watertown, MA, sells laboratory equipment and provides furnished labs for startups to kickstart their research endeavors. The company's origin story is inspiring. Barbara Pearlman worked in 1990 in medical equipment sales.

In September 2017, tragedy struck Katrina Lloyd’s life when she lost her sister Sherrie to domestic violence. After recovering from Sherrie’s murder, Lloyd wanted to keep her sister’s memory alive and started Falsetto The Label.

Reflecting on the early days of Sewall House Yoga Retreat, Donna Davidge recounted, “Initially, it was a very slow start. As you can imagine." Over the years, Davidge has evolved the types of yoga she teaches at Sewall House.

Skyline Realty in Medford, MA is a real estate firm that has thrived for over two decades in the Boston area. Alex Haidar’s journey into real estate began right after college. In 1999, he and two partners opened their own firm in downtown Boston.

Eric Anderson, the owner of Anderson Property Resources in Smithfield, RI, took a unique path to become a general contractor. The idea to open a construction business came to him while working in real estate, and today, Anderson runs two companies.

In the charming state of Maine, where pristine landscapes and a sense of community thrive, Pratt Builders, LLC brings craftsmanship and dedication to the home-building trade.

David Schwartz, owner of Schwartz Tree Care in Cranston, RI, has been a practicing arborist for over 50 years, but it didn’t start that way. “After college, I needed something that put me in touch with nature,” Schwartz explained.

“I've been a nurse for over 40 years, and started taking some classes in holistic nursing way back... And so that's how I started it.” Maxine Bornstein, owner of Reiki by the Sea in Boston discusses how she began her journey into the healing arts.

Michel Curran, founder of Central Maine Concrete Cutting in Sabattus, ME, has established himself as a partner for all concrete cutting needs. He started his company in 2006, equipping it with the tools needed for projects of any size and complexity.

Ash Lubega is no stranger to the healthcare world.  After moving to the United States from Uganda he saw a need to help care workers find employment and a need for non-urgent care transportation. In 2019 Care Remedy Inc. was launched.

When Organic Payment Gateways first opened its doors in 2013, its primary focus was on serving conventional e-commerce needs. However, Organic Payment Gateways owner Alex Roy saw a need for the business to pivot five years later.

Richard Phipps is the CEO of Consumer Financial Services of Massachusetts, a full-service financial and real estate services agency in Mattapan, MA. Phipps’ business story began over four decades ago, in 1972.

Harold Greco Jr./Plaster Perfection owner Harold Greco Jr. has been running the third-generation company for over 40 years. “My father’s father started it back in the forties. We do all plaster restoration work, renovations, water  and fire damage."

Alysa Southall, CEO of A People Partner in Rowley, Massachusetts set out to change the workplace culture when she launched her company in June of 2022 and hasn’t looked back since.

Dan Dumond, founder and owner of The Roof Doctors, was born and raised in Portland, Maine, and learned the roofing trade alongside another area roofer who taught him the value of doing every job the right way.

“We started off as a snow plowing company,” said Jay Lunedei, Owner of South Sagamore Services, “but once we bought a fence company, South Sagamore Services expanded into a wide variety of services.”

Livius Prep offers a variety of online and in-person academic support programs for elementary, middle, and high school students as well as test preparation and college counseling for soon-to-be graduates.

Over the years, Divine Stoneworks has grown to offer more than just countertops in more than just kitchens. They have carved out a bit of a niche and pride themselves on offering a complete solution from design to manufacturing to installation.

The idea to create Everyday Life Insurance came to Jake Tamarkin when he purchased a life insurance policy. “The catalyst for all of this was when I personally went to go buy some life insurance for myself, and I found it excruciatingly difficult."

Doug Turet is the founder of The HELP Coach in Foxboro, MA. This certified Life & Solution-Focused Coach began his personal empowerment coaching practice as a way of helping people who are experiencing limitations in any area of the their lives.

Sisler Builders Inc. owner, Steve Sisler's passion for building began when he was a child. “I started doing woodworking projects with my father at six or seven. He was an amateur woodworker who was blind, so I was his eyes on the project."

John Dudley, owner and president of United Home Experts founded the business in 1998 with his father, a former engineer. It is a family-owned, exterior home and building improvement company, celebrating their 25th anniversary.

NEXTonSCENE Media in Everett, MA is a boutique marketing and media agency. CEO Jaclyn Zukerman Delory founded her company in 2015, but it looked a little different back then. “It originally was just a podcast in my guest room closet."

PK Health & Wellness was founded by the husband and wife team of Dr. Pheng Kouch and Patchamol (Pat) Kanjanakuha, often referred to as “PK Squared,” have 20 years of experience naturally helping people manage a variety of health concerns.

TDI Repair & Towing business owner Herbert Bartemy started in the transportation industry as a teenager, working for his family’s towing business. In 1996, Bartemy and his wife, Lynn, took a leap of faith and created a trucking and repair company.

Carlene Damon is the president of CAAN Fence, Inc. in Boston, MA, which specializes in fence installation for commercial and industrial clients. As immigrants, owning a business was the Damon family’s dream.

Zaazey is an early harvest, cold pressed, extra virgin olive oil producer. Selling olive oil aligns with the Qureshi family's (the founders of Zaazey) values. “We're a family that has generally created peace. Olives are a symbol of peace."

Joe Corey now leads Day's Jewelers, a hundred year old business which was founded in Maine in the early 1900s and sold all manner of goods and supplies, as a vital part of New England at the turn of the century.

Laura Beohner and Zach Mcinnis are partners in life and business. They own The Healing Rose Company of Newburyport, MA, a cannabinoid-infused skincare and wellness company. After her knee injury, Beohner discovered the power of CBD infused topicals.

Founder and owner, Dmitriy Peregudov, started Gift Baskets Overseas, a Massachusetts based company, in 2007. Back then, the focus was primarily on gift basket and flower delivery to the consumer market between the United States and Europe.

Tasker Payment Gateways LLC in South Portland, ME helps e-commerce businesses process credit card payments for restricted or regulated goods. Tasker started the business two decades ago when he noticed a gap in the credit card processing industry.

Certified Master Home Inspector (CMI) Allen Potter owns RI Real Estate Inspection Services in Warwick, RI. Before starting his business, Allen worked full-time in the construction industry and was a licensed real estate agent.

Jairo Rugel, founder of ATC Tech in Middletown, RI in 2002, shared that he got his first customers by reaching out to his network. “One of my clients at my previous firm heard that I left the company and hired me to consult on their IT needs."

Over the past nearly twenty years, Affiliated Monitors Inc has overseen hundreds of matters where companies in question right their wrongdoings and demonstrate that they have effectively fixed their problems, through reports submitted by the monitor.

Legal matters like writing a will and asset distribution after a death can be overwhelming and confusing for people. Jennifer Deland of Deland Law Office in Holliston, MA and her team help individuals navigate the complexities of estate planning.

Attorney Bennett Savitz began his career in immigration law in 1994 and opened Savitz Law Offices in Boston, MA in 2000. Savitz Law Offices has grown over the years. “I have an of-counsel attorney, two paralegals and law student interns.”

Green Zones Safaris operates safari tours in East Africa with headquarters in Watertown, MA.Those traveling with Green Zones Safaris can encounter amazing wildlife, see breathtaking vistas and learn about East Africa’s vibrant cultural traditions.

Owners Natig Jalilov and Raig Tamiev formed CAN Roof Construction in 2019 after working together at a home improvement company. The pair bonded over their experiences as immigrants to the United States and their love of construction.

Care Free Homes, Inc. is a family owned and operated home improvement and construction company that was started in 1978 by Wayne Edwards and Dana Pickup. Today, Dana co-owns the business with his two sons, Dana Jr. and Nathan.

Tim Holick, the founder and owner of Wood Palace Kitchens in Middleboro, Massachusetts, has been designing kitchens since 1979, and it all started in his mom’s garage. Today, Wood Palace Kitchens has a 5,000 sq. ft showroom and a staff of designers.

Global Hawk Resources in Methuen, MA specializes in business-to-business debt recovery. “We collect on any company that has a debt owed by another business,” said Nick Morash, one of the company’s owners.

Beantown Home Improvements has been in the business of remodeling the outside of people’s homes since 2014 and owner, Jim DelPrete, says his six core principles are honesty, integrity, transparency, communications, quality and follow through.

Cadversity LLC is a product development agency and accelerator, meaning the business helps inventors scale and retail their product ideas. At the heart of Cadversity is the desire to help entrepreneurs bring their ideas to life.

Gerald and Sarah Hathaway own The Bur-Ger Farm in Benson, VT, which originally belonged to Gerald’s parents, Burton and Gertrude. Sarah recalled that she started selling at “one tiny farmers market” and the business took off from there.

If you’ve ever wondered what happens to wood pallets after they’re unloaded, Luis (Enrique) Minnig, managing partner at Ruma's Pallet World in Chelsea, Mass. can tell you. The business sells, removes, recycles and offers wholesale pallet delivery.

Brian Fabiano is the CEO of Evergreen Solar in Pawtucket, RI. The company serves homeowners in Rhode Island and Massachusetts and will service Connecticut. Fabiano and his brother started the solar panel business in 2019.

After retiring from public service as a police officer, Robert Iovino began working in the insurance industry. Realizing he still wanted to help people, Iovino became a public insurance adjuster and launched Iovino Appraisal Service in 2015.

Vermont Artisan Designs has been a hub for all things art in Brattleboro for over 50 years. Greg and Suzy Worden took over more than three decades ago and have continued the tradition of highlighting local Vermont and New England artisans.

Nikia Londy, owner of Intriguing Hair, has always been passionate about hair. Even before being hired at the salon, the stylist had a side hustle. “I had a love for hair extensions and had been importing hair from Asia for myself and my friends and family,” said Londy.

Opening her own business, Bossladylashh, was a career surprise for Tyrene Ramos. “I never thought that I would be doing something like this, to tell you the truth. It's just something that fell in my lap...and I love doing lashes–it’s very therapeutic,” she said.

Goldwater Financial Group has been helping people retire as comfortably as possible for the last two plus decades. Barry Goldwater, founder and owner, is a well-known advisor in the matters of retirement and retirement income planning.

Before they became business partners, Jonathan Rezendes and Adam Seaberg owned separate construction businesses in Rhode Island. Rezendes shared the story of how he and Seaberg became co-owners of Seaberg Construction in Johnston, RI.

As owner of No Dog Too Small, Deborah Maida provides training and care to dogs of all ages and breeds. Her special blend of in-home training reinforced by daily walks and play groups helps even the most challenging pup learn to sit and stay.

Today, the architect, Nicholas Paolucci, the owner of MASS Architect, designs “single-family additions, full-gut renovations and new custom homes.” Paolucci discussed his business’s growth. “I started my business in 2016, and it's grown each year."

Would you hire yourself as the CEO of your own business?  That is the big question Amy Pocsik, Founder of Bold Moves, will ask when you work together, and then she will teach you how to do just that – take ownership and become the chief of your business and life.

The C&J Construction and Roofing business owner provided insight into his business philosophy. “When I opened my business, my goal was to create a company that's based on treating people how you'd want to be treated..."

Lori Narducci is a co-owner of Golden Voice Answering Service in North Providence, RI. Although she opened the business with her son in 2014, Narducci has been working in the field for much longer. She elaborated on how Golden Voice came to be.

Melodi Landi founded Furry Fellas Pet Service in Coventry, RI. The small business provides professional pet sitting, dog walking, and other services to Rhode Island and Bristol County, Massachusetts pet parents. At the vet’s office, Landi noticed that there were many pet owners who hadn’t gone away in years because they had pets with special needs.

Ed Smith is the founder of Chariho Furniture in Richmond, RI, which sells solid wood furniture. “I started Chariho Furniture when I was 22 years old. I decided I would open a furniture store on my own. I had little experience. So learn as you go, and 35 years later, I guess I learned.”

Robin Hofheinz is the founder of Retirement Freedom Team in Rumford, RI, and serves as its president. “My business focuses on wealth and retirement planning, specifically tax efficiency or tax minimization and retirement planning and income planning,” said Hofheinz.

Eric Bucci is the founder of Bucci Roofing, LLC in North Scituate, RI. He started the business in 2016, and today he has over 20 years of experience in the industry. 

Every day, Craig Lehigh of Western Maine Screen Doors walks the 50 feet from the front door of his home in New Portland, Maine, to his woodworking shop. There he makes beautifully hand-crafted mahogany screen doors..

While southern New England residents may know GEM as a plumbing and heating company, it offers much more. "We want to care for your entire home," said Joe Andrade, GEM's President, Home and Commercial Services.

“I think I’m doing it right. I get to help people and do what I love. Being an honest and caring arborist makes the income sustainable.”  As the owner of North East Tree Service of Vermont, Lamphere spends his days helping people across much of New England. 

Nexus Property Management handles rental properties on behalf of absentee landlords. "With all the tenant inquiries, maintenance requests and rent payments, we become like the Wizard of Oz—the landlord is behind the curtain," explains Gregory Rice.

Bruce Schulbaum and John Mills co-own Venture Window in Cranston, RI and have been in business for 38 years. The company installs windows, vinyl siding, doors and roofing and serves residential and commercial customers in Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Connecticut.

The partners began brainstorming ways to offer support. Soon they realized that many people could not afford their mortgage payments and were facing foreclosure. This awareness led Sirois and Martin to launch Dreamwood Home Solutions, Inc., which buys homes in as-is condition.

Sean Napolitano began working in the construction industry nearly 40 years ago. After gaining extensive experience in both residential and commercial buildings, he founded A-1 Roofing & Construction in 2007. Based out of Newport, the company services all of Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts. 

In Skowhegan, Maine sits a 34-room motel that has been there as long as anyone can remember. A staple of the town’s landscape, the motel was lovingly cared for by just two families since the late 50s. In 2018, Dennis and Angelica Krebs took ownership of the hotel.

LaPrino educated himself on the different approaches to real estate investing. He found a process that made sense, both financially and philosophically. In 2021 he launched North Star Property Solutions. North Star exists to help buyers into homes through non-traditional financing. 

Evan Stone, professional Game Master and Founder of Feyruin LLC, is the poster child for making your passion your profession. A lifelong Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) player, Stone found ways to make his love for the famous role-play game into a full-time business with multiple applications. 

While working full-time, Jane Freitas' love for helping people inspired her to open Face First, LLC, a skincare clinic in North Smithfield, RI.

Malaika Lucien received her bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Waldorf University. She worked at various law firms before stepping out on her own to open LLS Services (Lucien’s Legal Services) in Brockton, MA.

Embrace Home Loans is headquartered in Middletown, RI. For nearly 40 years, the company has helped people buy homes in Rhode Island and beyond—and the company is committed to the communities it serves and its employees. 

LogOX is a family-owned, Small Business Association (SBA) certified and Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) based in Arlington, Vermont. The company specializes in selling completely American-made forestry tools and firewood heating products.

 "I always had difficulty getting a good car detail." So Paiva used that as an opportunity to solve the problem and launch his own business: Paiva's Auto Detailing in Warwick, RI. 

“An entrepreneur is someone who jumps off a cliff and builds their wings on the way down,” says Daniel Hayes, certified franchise consultant and founder of Hundred Acre Consulting in Vermont.

Harley Boyington is always busy fixing things as Handy Harley General Contractor and handyman in Harpswell, Maine. Handy Harley services homes within a 20-mile radius of the coastal town, with its authentic fishing-village feel and hundreds of miles of coastland.

The Land Camping Area is truly a quiet place on Earth. Located in the bullseye center of Maine, the campsite is deliberately unplugged. There’s no wifi, no cable, no streaming services. Harriett and George Eddy wouldn’t have it any other way. 

Denise Duguay, owner of All Seasons Cleaning, says she flexes easily between the demands of running a business and servicing clients who range from celebrities to hoarders and everyone in between.

Long before self-booking sites and travel apps existed, WeNeedaVacation.com (WNAV). The rental listing site is the brainchild of the Talmadges, who, upon buying a vacation home on Cape Cod, were eager to rent it out in the summers and enjoy it off-season.

Celebrating 12 years as a company this year, the owners of Shamrock Overhead Door Inc. in Walpole, Massachusetts, couldn’t be more proud of their family-run business.
