After my visit with **************************************, he in turn referred me to "the best specialist in the area" who was Dr. ************ *********************** ******************** insisted I**;d been hit in the mouth and had an abscess so he referred me to Dr. *********************** My first visit with Dr. ********************** was on Aug 19, 2021 and she asked the same question, had I been hit in the mouth. She proceeded to do a root canal that was totally unnecessary! Because I had no pain, nor tenderness in the area of the tooth where the root canal was done. Before leaving Dr. ************************;s office I paid $950.00, ck #****, dated 8-19-2022 for the root canal.Cigna (my insurance) also paid approximately $2000 to Dr. ********************** for an unnecessary root canal. Within a couple of weeks following the root canal I felt pain and tenderness in the tooth and gum area of the root canal. The tooth turned black. My front left tooth is black.Business response

On behalf of Smith and Smith Endodontics, this email pertains to the patient complaint sent to the BBB on 12.20.22.
Complaint ID: ********.
Two separate dental professionals recommended the treatment provided to this patient. There are many reasons a patient may require root canal treatment, and not all of them include pain as a precursor or indication. Root canal treatment was indicated and performed at a high standard of care after informed consent was given. Due to HIPAA concerns, further details regarding this particular patient and such patients treatment cannot be provided. Our practice has attempted to resolve this matter with this patient for several months, including discounting certain charges, and has proposed a mutual settlement as requested pursuant to the patients BBB complaint.
