During May - June of 2024, I received auto mechanic services from the owner (Gus), for me 2020 Jeep Renegade. I was informed through diagnostics that my car’s fuel injector went out. Gus informed me he could fix this and ordered the parts through the warranty. My vehicle was at this shop for 5 weeks, in which almost no services were completed. Every time I called or had my friend check in for me in person, as I lived out of town, I was given a go around about why my car was still sitting with no completed repairs. I was told at one point he did not know how to replace the part in the vehicle because the vehicle was made abroad. When I called or had my friend check in, we would be told he would work on the car the next day, however, we learned with follow-up little work had been completed. After the vehicle sat for 5 weeks with no work completed, I asked for him to discontinue all services and have my car ready for pick up the next day. I planned to have my car towed to another town that had a dealership who could service it. He continued to try to provide services after I asked in writing for it to be discontinued. Additionally, the dealership, after weeks of trying to figure out what the problems were and why the car wasn’t starting, informed me that the battery had died (the previous mechanic didn’t turn the car on), wiring had been crossed, parts were bent or broken, and that they assumed mechanic negligence on my vehicle from Montano’s Shop. Diagnostics from the dealership showed the previous mechanic (Montano’s) error was probable in this situation. I am potentially facing thousands of dollars in repairs due to this negligence, on top of the original car issue that brought me to Montano’s Shop.
