We hired a professional through ************* to clean our dryer vent. The price quote provided in a message sent to my husband via Thumbtack ranged from $175 to $225. We assumed the lower end of the quote would apply if the job didn't require extensive cleaning. The task actual taks appeared to have taken five to ten minutes and yelded very little dirt, duct or debris from the our dryer ******* this instance, the task required only a few minutes of work, resulting in a very small amount of debris or residue that needed to be cleaned up. Given the minimal effort and time involved, it is reasonable to expect that the final cost would fall to the lower end of the quoted price range. The very concept of a price range implies that simpler, quicker tasks should naturally be charged at the lower end, while more extensive or time-consuming tasks would justify a higher fee. However, if the pricing does not reflect this logical expectation, it could be perceived as misleading or even deceptive. Customers might feel unfairly charged if they are led to believe they might pay the lower price for minor tasks but end up being billed at the higher end regardless of the effort required. This discrepancy between expectation and reality could constitute a form of misrepresentation, and for that reason, We are considering whether legal action may be warranted to address this issue.Business response

**** *******.
Hi *******! I see youre unhappy with the price charged for your dryer vent cleaning.
I noticed you had an expectation of price per difficulty of work. Thats fine. However, upfront pricing is for your info, but total price still remains in my complete discretion as the business owner.
the actual charge was $216, but you decided to use a credit card which I told you up front had a %4 fee on. $224 was the work price plus then cc fee.
Also, I sat in your kitchen for a least 5 mins post job talking to you and your wife. That could have provided to be a good time to bring this up.
Thanks, ****
