Roots Crew Movers failed to show for our move... twice. I will submit copies of the texts if it allows me. We are both disabled and live in the retirement ********* of *** ******* Traditions. We decided to downsize from a 1600sf 2 bedroom home to 975sf 2 bedroom home. We have used Roots twice before. Once to move some concrete bowls and another time to move into a prior home. We were overcharged last time but just paid the ****. This time he agreed to move us on 3/25/22 9:30-10:30 arrival time. At 8:13 I received this text:Hey ***************** morning it's *******, I apologize but I need to reschedule you for Monday. I was trying to make it work today since I would be on that side but it's not working out exactly as planned....Can you do Sunday at Noon? ...I can guarantee Sunday for sure no one on that day. On saturday night I text him at 7:31pm and ask what time can we expect you tomorrow? I see that he read the text at 1:53am. Since that time I texted several times with no response. I was given no choice but to rent a U-haul and got a few teenage boys to help with the move. I had to pay out over $1600 for my own move due to the last minute needs. I discovered today that he advertises for instate and out of state moves and doesn't have the proper credentials such as a ***** number and I could not find his company with FMCSA. He is listed as a business with the **** but hasn't updated his address. As far as I know he doesn't have insurance or bonding. I would like a minimum $800 back for the difference in what he quoted me and how much my costs were.
