I took my son to Catalina Behavioral Health on September 9th, 2024. He is 18 years old. We met at the welcome center. They told me they would transport him to the “house” where he would receive treatment. I was not allowed to know where this “house” was. When he got to the house the room he stayed in was filthy. He stayed at Catalina for six days. On September 15th, 2024 he was sent to A different facility, mental health hospital. They said they sent him because he claimed to have wanted to hurt himself. My son told me he was upset and tried to go to his room, they did not allow him to go to his room. They instructed all the patients to go outside. During this time everyone was yelling and screaming. Yelling is a trigger of my sons. He got upset and threw a rock at the window. After this took place the director told me that my son claimed he wanted to hurt himself. The director was not there when everything happened. My son told me he did throw a rock but that it was suggested to him to go to the hospital so they can change his medication. My son also told me that while he was at Catalina they did not give him his medication the entire 6 days that he was there. I have requested the incident report as well as the medication report. I am waiting to see if they send it to me. Also during the 6 days he was there, the only treatment he received was group therapy and one session of one on one therapy. I asked the director for a copy of the incident report. She responded that no one has ever asked for that before but they should be able to get that for me. I am waiting on that. I paid $600 so far. They put me on a payment plan totaling over $8000. I never received an explanation of the bill as of yet. I have asked for a revised bill since he was only there for 6 days. I was temporarily hired for 2.5 days, and in this time. They would have employees work 12 hour shifts without a 30 minute break. I mean you could eat but beacuse we had to have our eyes on the clients we weren’t aloud to have a 30 minute break. They also scheduled people for 4-5 shifts a week as 12 hours with no break. They wouldn’t have the medication for clients and said the NP would work on it when she could and clients would go weeks without medication. They also are very disrespectful to employees and blame them for poor work ethic when they only give 3 days to train without any log ins.
