I took my truck to get a smog at this business. This vehicle gets driven very little so the battery tends to die often. I recently put a new battery in another vehicle and went to get it smogged at another business, at that time the business plugged into my vehicle prior to beginning and let me know I need to drive it more and reset the computer then bring it back. I was charged nothing and returned for a smog after a week and I paid for the service. This has happened to me multiple times and every shop has checked prior to starting the smog because it only takes literally a couple minutes. California Smog Repair does there visual inspection then puts it on the machine runs a full smog then tells you you need to drive it more and charges you full price and will charge you another $35 to have it tested again. This is something that can easily be avoided but they intentionally do not ask 1 simple question prior to starting have you put a new battery in or has it recently died? I expressed my frustration to the employee who couldnt have cared less then called later that day to speak to the owner ***********************. When speaking to ****** he explained there process and I let him know that this can be avoided because he said it happens all the time. He told me he didnt care if I was unhappy he deals with hundreds of customers on a weekly basis and if Im not happy dont come back. I let him know I wanted to speak to him prior to submitting a complaint to the BBB he replied I dont care what you do go somewhere else and hung up on me. They know what there doing and its robbery they could easily charge a $10 fee for example to check prior to charging someone who may not have the means to have to come back and pay to have it retested for example. ****** is unprofessional and praying on people that dont know any better.Business response

Hello, here at california smog repair we make every effort to stop this type of fail from happening. We have signage in the shop to let customers know that we are not liable for check engine light and or monitors not set. It sounds thogh you had this problem before with this vehicle. with that said, you should of asked the front desk to check your monitors or that you have had a problem with your vehicle before coming in. Which we will gladly do as a courtesy to our customers. When a vehicle fails there is labor involved with the that smog. I don't appreciate your statements of this shop being something that is underhanded to customers. we have been here for 30 years plus and my customers know that my shop will save you money if their vehicle fails. I have programs that give away free money for repairs if needed. the state of California has checked us and found us to be one of the most reputable shops in the **************. I have two programs that give $850 to customers with a check engine light on and another that gives $1200 to them. I may have been able to help you but you choose complaining instead. However, i am here for you if you get a check engine light on come see me so that i may get you into one of these free programs and save you money.
