Dear Better Business Bureau,I am writing to file a formal complaint against night start towing regarding the improper towing and resulting damage to my vehicle.Incident Details:Date of Incident: [08/23/2024]Towing Company: [night star towing ]Vehicle Involved: 2023 Tesla Model 3 My Name: *************************** Nature of the Complaint:On [8/23/2024], my 2023 Tesla Model 3 was towed by [night star towing]. Upon the return of my vehicle, I noticed significant damage that occurred during the towing process. Specifically:1.Front-End Damage: Both sides of the front end of my vehicle sustained considerable damage.2.Motor Damage: The motor was damaged due to the towing companys failure to use a flatbed tow truck, which is the appropriate method for towing a Tesla Model 3.I immediately contacted the towing company to address these issues, but their response has been unsatisfactory. They have not taken responsibility for the damage nor have they offered to cover the repair costs, which has caused me considerable distress and financial burden.Resolution Sought:I respectfully request that the Better Business Bureau assist me in seeking the following resolution:1.Full compensation for the costs of repairing both the exterior and motor damage to my vehicle.2.A formal acknowledgment of the improper towing methods used by the company, to prevent future incidents for other customers.I believe that the actions of [********************** Company Name] were negligent and have caused significant damage to my property. I hope the BBB can assist in resolving this matter in a fair and timely manner.Thank you for your attention to this complaint.Sincerely,***************************

It being 7:10 pm 06/04/2024 at night at ***********************************************************, a tow truck from the company Night Star Towing took my car for parking in a fire lane. What makes me angry is that the rule indicates that if I, as the owner, see that They are taking my car and the tow truck is still on private property. I have the option to get my car back and pay a small portion of money, which I read was a fee for uncoupling, so first the driver did not properly hook the car to the tow truck, creating risk for my car and for the community, second, although obviously the man saw or heard me and I yelled at him to get out of the way, he simply ignored me and continued on his way until he entered a main road moving at more than 10 miles per hour, which is exceeding the limit allowed on the property and thirdly when I reached it to tell me where I could recover my car, since I ran after the tow truck for half a mile or more, the driver behaved really aggressively, he entered my car to recover some of my personal belongings that the rule indicates that they cannot prevent me and I called someone who in a very aggressive and threatening manner told me that they were going to charge me the maximum they could charge and that if I wanted to do "cool" things they were more cool than me, which I clearly interpreted from her voice and her posture as an intention of aggression. That's how the events happened, and to finish the call to ask about my car, the woman who answered simply told me to call later without giving me any information. I greatly appreciate your help

On Saturday, February 3, ****, at 2:00am, my vehicle was towed from my own condominium property (where I have legal residence). I was charged an exorbitant amount to retrieve my car, and under further investigation, I believe I was wrongfully overcharged. I was charged $317 for the tow, a $95 daily storage rate, and a $153 gate fee. However, according to ********** Assembly Bill 294, "Under existing law, a towing and storage charge is deemed reasonable if it does not exceed those fees and rates charged for similar services provided in response to requests initiated by a public agency, including, but not limited to, the Department of the ********** Highway Patrol or a local police department. Existing law also provides that a storage fee is deemed reasonable if it is comparable to storage-related rates and fees charged by other facilities in the same locale." (see attachment) When comparing local rates, it was difficult to find a lot, even after hours of research, but this is what I found:CHP Daily Storage Rate: $49 Gate Fee: $115 ****************** Tow: $233 Daily Storage Rate: $76 Release/Gate Fee: $116 Even at the rates of **********, without taking into account the ********** Highway Patrol pricing (which, according to state law, is what mandates local private tow pricing), I was still overcharged by $140. My house is also outside of the legal 10-mile radius required for residential towing companies to store a car (20 miles, 12 of which are outside the boundaries of *********** County and into ****************). (see attached map) On another note, the tow company was unwilling to accommodate my request for change, though Orange County laws state that "the tow company must provide change to the closest whole dollar. They may not condition the payment on you having exact change." (see attached document)My main reason for filing this is to bring this awful company to justice, but I would also like a $140 reimbursement if possible.

Night Star Towing illegally towed my car **** 2011 335D with CA plate number 8VSJ203) on 12/12/2023 at 11:53 pm from my residential complex *************** located at ******************************************************************* . The property manager of my complex never approved the tow (letter signed by management is attached). When I attempted to find out why my car was towed, Night Star Towing never gave an answer and they also would not release my car without paying $637 in cash which I had to pay on 12/14/2023. I have all the documents and evidence that the property manager never approved of the tow and all the communication between them. When the property manager reached out to the Night Star Towing, they agreed to pay me back the money since they knew it was illegally towed. I attempted on many occasions to reach out and driving there to collect the money they promised to pay but they kept giving me the run around. ****** who runs their business which has phone number ************ has been avoiding to resolve my issue. Also, Night Star Towing is located 15 miles away from my ****************, which makes me wonder why would they come all the way from ************ to tow a car located in ************* without any permission from the property manager or local police. Also, if there should be any tow initiated in our complex, the property manager contacts tow companies that are withing 3 miles range around Newport. I sent a certified mail to both of the business locations in ************ and ********* with the demand letter giving them until Jan 31st to pay me back the money. But they never responded.

On private property, my new vehicle was "hooked up" and about to be towed. I ran out my front door and requested--" Do not tow my car!" I've seen this particular driver on numerous occasions (in Fullerton) running the same scam to shake people down. I completely agree that most of the reviews sound like sour grapes and upset folks, blatant lies or exaggerating. So this review is more for the owner: A violation of the ********** Towing Law has been committed by your driver. I have the whole incident on video. Note: Cash demand from driver-- no receipt, haggled for a $400.00 drop fee(settled for $380.00--fees are supposed to be fixed and posted.)No call from this apt location (Driver just seen an opportunity). No police contact. No report to dispatch 2/17/23 (I checked). I have a 50k car and had 1k in my wallet, so I'm not crying about money--not every single upset customer can possibly be lying. SCAMMER driver or complicit ownership?

Car was illegally towed from ARCO gas station on July 16th, 2022 from ****************************************************. Car was held overnight without definite location. Night Star Towing took possession of property July 17th. On two separate occasions, I was told I could remove my property from the vehicle and upon arriving, September 7th, 2022, I was denied via telephone by alleged manager; after specifically being told by a member of the staff I would be allowed to retrieve my belongings.
