      Business response

      11/30/2023

**** contacted our firm for a referral to a partner law firm in June 2023. We successfully paired them with a trusted, but independent, law firm and **** retained them as representation for their legal claim.

After ****and the firm worked together for some months, the partner law firm decided to end the relationship. Our understanding is that the partner firm (a small family business) felt as though they could not continue a working relationship with **** due to the language and tone he used with staff on multiple occasions.

The partner law firm formally ended their representation and sent written notice to **** and the relevant agency. The written notice withdrawing representation also included a release of any rights to fees: A good faith measure by the partner firm that will make it easier for **** to find new legal representation should he want to.

After the partner firm notified us of the withdrawal, Atticus confirmed with **** that representation had ended and asked if he had any questions. He requested a phone call, and a manager at our firm spent nearly an hour with **** discussing the situation and answering questions. At the end of that discussion, **** requested a written notice confirming the end of representation from the partner firm be sent both to him and the relevant agency handling the claim, but requested no further resolution.

Atticus followed up with the partner firm and **** multiple times to ensure the situation was resolved to R.L.s satisfaction and ****confirmed with us that he received the written notice requested. We have only contacted **** at their request since the above exchange.

I am rejecting this response because:

the information provided by firm is simply not true. the father (****) received my call and i simply said i have a legal question and if he was licensed by the bar association in **********.

he came unglued, irate, and became belligerent. then explained he was dropping the case. then asked if my assigned attorney was aware of his actions and replied i will tell my daughter. further stating he was the executive director and makes all decisions.

the conversation lasted but *********************************************************** time was i belligerent nor used any such foul language.

      Sincerely,

      *****************

I want to be clear about who we are in this relationship because it might help alleviate some confusion. We, at Atticus, are the initial law firm *** spoke to and did a brief intake with. We then referred him to a third party firm, who he had a separate relationship with that lasted several months. This other firm was ****'s primary attorneys who dropped his case, and seems to be who **** is describing.

We were not part of the conversations between **** and the other firm so we cannot know exactly what happened on those phone calls. What we can say (and did in our initial response) is that the other firm dropped **** as a client because they believed they could no longer have a successful working relationship due to his behavior. That is their choice. Both the firm and *** notified us of the decision after the fact.

Our role is to provide support the best we can in situations where a client (either former, potential, or current) and a third party firm part ways: here, that meant ensuring **** had the documentation he needed to move forward with his claim (with another lawyer if he so chooses) and answering any questions he had. We believe we did that to the best of our ability quickly and with kindness. The phone call we referred to in our last response and that lasted nearly an hour was with a manager here at Atticus, not the third party firm (which is what **** is referring to in his response). We agree that **** was never rude or belligerent to us or our staff and we wish him the best.
