I paid for a Sunday paper subscription in April 2023. I have yet to receive a paper. I emailed the customer service department and they extended the subscription but I still have not received a paper. I call the circulation department on Sunday when i dont receive a paper and am told the carrier will drop off a paper - it doesnt get delivered. I paid for excuses and they refuse to refund my money. This is not the first time Ive had delivery problems and i thought Id give them another chance. I just want a refund.Initial Complaint

Please help investigate The San Gabriel Valley Tribune. I contacted them recently to cancel my newspaper subscription, and I have asked for partial refund because I have paid for the entire year 2023. The San Gabriel Valley Tribune customer service agent *************************** told me that no partial refund can be given even though I had paid through the entire year. It is very unreasonable since it was only in March when I requested to cancel service, but I had paid for the entire year. This is bad, unethical business practice.Initial Complaint

I paid in advance to have my newspaper delivered to my home every day for one year. The company does not deliver it. I have to call every single morning to tell the company that I have not received my paper again. This has made me late to work. The company offers me endless promises that they will fix this problem and they don't.Initial Complaint

They have stopped my newspaper, stating I owe them money, We have talked to several people at this business and no one can tell me or show me anything that shows I missed any payments, I have got Bank statements showing I have not missed any payments and now they change their story are trying to says it is from 3 years ago, But they just stopped my paper now, I cannot get a straight answer form any one, Everyone has a different story.Initial Complaint

I called the ******** Star-News right after the July 4th holiday to cancel my subscription and get a partial refund on my monthly payment. I was told that they would stop the delivery but the refund was up to the billing department and they could not make any promises. I pay over $100 dollars a month and to me that is a lot of money. The newspaper kept arriving so I called again and they said it would be taken care of right away. Still the paper keeps coming and it is July 9th. I talked to my delivery man and told him no more papers that I had cancelled the paper. He was surprised because he had not been notified. In the past, if my newspaper was not delivered I made a phone call and I received a new paper within hours. There is no reason for the paper to keep coming. I know that it has only been a few days, but I worry that if the paper continues to come that there will be no refund money left.Business response

I cancelled three digital subscriptions on April 21, 2022, to three online newspapers that I had used for my freelance writing gigs. However, I was charged on June 20, 2022, by the San Gabriel Valley Tribune. I visited the website and saw that the subscription I had cancelled was still active. I visited the other two online newspapers I had cancelled and both were not active. I cancelled all three digital subscriptions on the same date yet San Gabriel Valley Tribune did not cancel by subscription.Business response

I contacted them to cancel my subscription on June 7, 2022 and they informed me that I will owe ****** to cancel as of this date. I agreed and authorized payment. Then on June 13,2022 and additional $ ***** was taken out of my account without my authorization. I received a call today June 15th from one of their centers in ******** to notify me that they will continue to deliver the Sunday paper for another 13 weeks. When questioned about the additional charge they took after I canceled they informed me that the payment was pending with my bank at the time of my cancellation and there was no way for the customer service rep to have know that. I cancelled on June 7 how could the payment been pending with my bank when it did not appear on my bank acct until June 13th. When I requested for a refund for that additional charge I was told they could only authorize a partial reimbursement due to their strict no refund policy but she would have to get authorization first and will have to call me back. I informed her that they are scamming people and unless I get the full reimbursement I will report them to my bank and BBB.Business response

San Gabriel Valley Tribute somehow managed to acquire my credit card information and signed me up for a subscription without my consent or notice. I paid the full bill in August of 2022 and cancelled my service with them, however now they are attempting to coerce additional money from me without providing any description of the charges after I had requested full service cancellation.Business response

*** ******* Valley sent me a bill for ****** for the tribune and I don't receive the tribune I was told you have to prepay before you can receive a paper I decided I didn't want the paper but they had already called and I already told them that I don't want the paper and haven't received so there shouldn't be any bill I tried to call but can't get throughBusiness response
