visited the Tahoe wellness center on 04/19/23, whose mission is to promote health, peace, love, ******** and compassion. Instead, the exact opposite response was returned. Inconsiderate and harsh was *************************************. When I arrived with my service dog, I was directed to wait for the facility's owner, ****, a Lake Tahoe council member, and was not allowed to enter. **** still hadn't arrived after waiting for an hour. I want this company to be looked into by all organizations that safeguard ********* with disabilities, so they won't feel threatened, and I want them to take any pro-King ******* off of their logo and website.

      Business response

      05/03/2023

This is in response to a complaint forwarded by ***************************** on 04/20/2023.
First off, ***************************** doesn't have a service dog. This is why I'm a bit confused that he is lodging the complaint and not the woman who later came in and caused a scene over her emotional support dog in our establishment.
***************************** came into Tahoe Wellness with a dog that he claimed was his support dog.  When our security guard, ************************************* (stated in the complaint) noticed that the dog was not behaving how a service animal would, he asked him what task(s) the dog was trained to perform.  He did not have an answer, and it was clear that it was not his service animal.  He then proceeded to lie and tell us it was an emotional support animal, which is also not covered under the rules.  Turns out it wasn't even his dog!
Once he knew he was called out, he proceeded to berate my employee, *********, and me.  Because he was using profanity and creating an uncomfortable situation in the entrance of our establishment in front of other customers, the owner was brought into the situation.  The owner explained the guidelines for service animals, and affirmed that our security guard had performed his job according to the state guidelines.  The owner tried to reason with him at this point, and told him he could go inside, but not with the dog.  ***** proceeded to be rude and uncooperative.  He eventually left after creating a scene and instigating an argument with all parties.
He later came back with the dog's rightful owner, who was a female, and then it turned into a situation with her, which is why I am confused that he is submitting the complaint and not her. By claiming that this is his service dog to you, the BBB, he is still not telling the truth, but rather trying to pretend he is the woman who later came in to create another problem (his partner, girlfriend?)
In addition, the "emotional support" dog nipped at a customer, and also invaded my personal space by coming up to me during conversation with the owner and nudging its nose into my ********.
He is falsifying claims, and impersonating a customer with a condition that required a service animal.  That should be illegal.

      * your letter asks me to not use any information that personally identifies him, but he used my security guard's full name (I'm not sure where he got his middle name from!).  Please feel free to take his name down if you decide to post this response.
      * you may reach me at any of the contacts below
