On 12/22/2022 I signed multiple contacts with this company to start working on the projects the second week of the year 2023. I had paid this company over $23,000 and they have not completed the jobs. They do not answer in a timely manner, they do not come to work when they said they are going to. Al contract state they will finalize t each contract within 1-2 weeks. However, how we are on 4/12/2023 and they have not completed. I called the company's contact and they do not answer and or respond. This has cause an enormous discomfort, pain, disruption and financials cost due to their incompetency, delays, lack of communication and or following the signed contracts. the projects included renovating 3 bathrooms, kitchen, replacing an outside porch, painting the home inside and out, updating faucets, toilets, installing granite counters, kitchen renovation and much more. Today, I was able to speak with the company's owner Mr. **** ******** *** *** ****. Mr. **** bailey who use to communicate with use had not respond to the telephone calls and or texts in the past 3.5 weeks. They said they could not deliver the cabinets because it was raining and or cold. The other excuses is that the employee was sick, got covid, was in the hospital and or the family was sick. The latest excuse is they had death in the family. We want the company to finish all the started projects, give us a refund and a large discount for the projects that need to be completed because they did not follow or honor the contracts,

On 12/20/2022 I hired this contractor to do a small project for me at my house. Total price is $950.00 I paid him 1/2 $475.00 and the other 1/2 $475.00 to be paid after the job is done. A bout one hour the same day after we agreed and he gave me the contract i called him to cancel the contract, he said no problem he will send me the money back ( full amount ) . I waited about one week I didn’t get anything back from him then i called and texted his company so many times for about two weeks and they kept ignoring my calls and text. Finally i sent a text saying I was going to report him to BBB then they texted me back saying the owner is sick when he comes back they’ll take care of it. Few days nothing happened. Finally I got a text from him saying that he will send the money back but not the whole amount and again nothing. Then I sent them a certified letter of demand. Up till today 02/20/2023 I haven’t receive anything.

      Hi
As private construction projects in California are governed by California Business & Professions §7108.5 and Cal. Civ. Code. §§8800, and 8810-8822. We are in the process of refunding money back to the customer, less services rendered. This information was already explaining to the customer as nobody works for free. Which includes research, calls, drive time, gas, and physical time at the supply yards to list a few. We are also aware of the  California Civil Code Sections 3300-3302 and 3353-3360, as to the Contract, which we also abide by.
      Thank you

I am rejecting this response because:
They can’t be trusted. They told me they’re going to send the money back within a week ( that was in in January 12 2023
And now it’s march 2023 ) till now I didn’t get anything, how long does it take to write a check ? They just keep lying over and over again.
After doing some searching about this company I found out that they did this to so many customers. ( I think  that’s how they make their money)
I just need them to send the money back “ in full “and stop doing this to someone else. Otherwise I will be seeing them in court and they will be loosing much more Including their license.
      Thank you.

Contract states the job will be completed in 2 months. It’s been 15 and I’ve been left high and dry and all communication has been avoided every time I try and contact them. This is my final warning before I take them to small claims court.

**** ****** in partnership with *******. Took approximately 30,000.00 from me 4 work. Which includes material and labor. For work to be done on a mobile home I purchased at *** E. **** St. #**, San *******, Ca *****. This was all the money I had in the world after the purchase. He was suppose to remodel the mobile home. Which including new wood flooring, tile flooring, painting, cabinets, granite counter tops, plumbing for sinks, electrical for new lighting. An so much more. He hires unprofessional workers. Who are not knowledgeable on doing the type of work. That he offers and agrees to do, and is payed to do. He also does not pay them. So they retaliate by stealing from me. They stole high quality paint that I had already bought and purchased separately. They stole a dishwasher, as well as other miscellaneous articles. He promises to complete the work. He does not return calls or text msg’s. He also changes his phone number. His partner is not any better. He is aware of the work that is not being done. He just refers back to ****. I bought this mobile home. Because I am permanently disabled and on a fixed income. I can no longer afford to live in L.A. county. I used all the money I had in the world. I have nothing to show for it. And to add insult to injury I have a leaky roof. That he agreed he would patch up for me. A person that would do this is not a person with a soul. Ian devastated. I have no recourse. Please help!

      Hi ******,
This is an on-going custom project with many specifics to the project and that has experienced some difficulties. We have been trying our best to work out any and all issues as we progressed with the project. Some of the issues were a little more challenging than others. This I can say about this customer, they are a nice family and have been extremely understanding through the whole process. Mr. ****** has also been fair with us as we continue with his project, even at times when you feel he is at his limit. We will continue to work with him, which will include an agreeable refund.
      Thank you,

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 175**575, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. If they finish the job of just the kitchen within 1 week. He told me they take other jobs and push me back cause they need funds to pay employees  and since he got all the funds from me already they keep rescheduling. That's the Pantry(completed with doors and drawers which he stated 6 months ago that it was completed , he even told his employees that it was installed till they told him it was not and sent him pictures. The lazy Susan and all the drawers  They falsely advertised they did the work in house , so they would never have delays , now their stating that he never said that, the fair refund would be everything paid for the floor $4750.  If its not done within the week I will file again with the BBB and I 'am having a meeting with a lawyer this week, any delay will be taken to account and recorded. As **** And **** lie, Also can I file with the FTC.

On April 16, 2022, I hired a company, American Eagle Construction, to remodel my kitchen. The amount that we initially agreed upon was $9400. Before the job started, I paid 85% of the agreed-upon price. The company started the job on May 27, 2022. On their initial visit, they used different materials from what was contractually agreed-upon. I noticed this on my own and confronted the contractor about the situation. The contractor kept telling me he would come “tomorrow” or ignore my calls and messages all together. Unfortunately, my family and I have missed out on wages due to missing work in order to wait for the crew to show up. We have not had countertops or a working sink in the kitchen and had to eat out for most meals. The company did not return to work on my house until June 27, 2022 to correct their mistake. The job remains unfinished and unsatisfactory as the crew has done damage to our floors and walls. According to our contract, I believe the contractor is in violation of section 7159 (M) of the California business and professions code since they failed to substantially commence work within 20 days from the approximate date that was provided (5/14/22). The contractor is now asking for the rest of the agreed-upon fee to finish the work, but I told him I do not feel comfortable paying him until the work has been completed as he has lied, violated codes, and is taking much longer than agreed-upon to complete the job. Our contract does not have a clause that states I have to pay before the job is done, however, he is refusing to come and finish the job. this whole situation is causing me and my family stress and we are losing a lot more money than we had forecasted. If possible, we would like to explore the possibilities to adjusting the bill to a fair price, considering the stressful situation.

This company started a kitchen remodel and has never finished the job. I don’t have cabinet doors, most I do have don’t fit properly, don’t have all the drawers and two I do have are wrong size. None of the finish trim has been installed. Also I’m supposed to have a lazy Susan in corner cabinet that has never been installed. All money has been paid except the last 4000.00 was to be a golf cart when all work was finished.

We met with CB of AE in 1/22. The total agreed upon price was $2,745. for everything and we signed a contract on 1/18/22. we gave CB 2 checks, 1 for down payment ($274) and 1 for half of the sliding glass door ($1200).We were told that the approximate date when the work would begin was 2 - 4 weeks from the date that the contract was signed. No correspondence from 1/18/22 until I called on 2/15/22. CB said that someone would be calling me about starting the job next week. Which would have been 2/21 to 2/26/22.No one called until I called on 3/7/22. The other partner, P took my info and said that he would look up the contract and call me back. Called again at 3:10 P.M. and the voicemail box was full. 3/11/22, Left a message that I wanted to cancel the order. I received a message from CB that he said that the door had come in, but it was the wrong door, so he sent it back. He said that if we wanted vinyl frame door instead of the metal one that we had ordered, he could get the vinyl one back. He said that vinyl doors were more expensive, but the company would cover the difference.3/15/22 CB called and said that hoped that they could start work on Saturday.3/17/22. No call, no work on 3/17/22.Called CB he said that he had been in the hospital. He said that they would start work on Saturday, March 19th. 3/19/22 No work, no call Then CB said they would start work on 3/24/22 again no work, no call. 3/29/22 told CB that I wanted the money back, cash only no check and I would come to the address on the contract to pick it up. I filed a complaint with the Contractor's Licensing Board. They asked me to check and see if a permit had been requested for work at my address. I contacted the City of Hemet and found that no permit was ever started. Which led me to believe that they never intended to do any of the work. 5/1/22 CB said he mailed a check, and sent a pic of the check and also text me about the check.I did not receive the check, or text or pic of check. Both CB & P lie

      Hi,
Here at American Eagle we do our best to meet the needs of our customers. Some customers such as the ******s had a special request. Mrs.****** was well aware of this special request, which was a metal sliding door verses a vinyl sliding door. For that specific size door there had to be a specific metal door made for that specific door opening. Mrs. ****** was well aware of this as **** ****** explained to her.
The issue was to find a company that actually makes these special size doors because most of them moved to vinyl doors. Another note as to the project. Since there was going to be no structural change to the opening structure, we were told by the City that no permit was needed. Simply changing doors, non structural. Unfortunately, all this takes a lot more time and man hours, than a normal readily available door. We will contact her regarding a refund.
      Thank you,
      ****

      Customer response

I am rejecting this response because: American Eagle has had plenty of time to contact me regarding the refund. On May 1, 2022, American Eagle told me that they had sent the check which would mean that it was sent in April of 2022. The check still hasn't arrived and it is now June 8, 2022.

If he was serious about returning the money, he would have said that he would contact me immediately. I don't know why it would take them 10 days to contact me about the refund.  And since the BBB will only give me 5 days to respond, it seems that this company knows how to play the game.

I really don't believe that American Eagle will ever give me a refund, and I don't believe that they ever had a door for this job in their possession. What I do believe is that the people who run this company are all scammers and cheaters and liars. They should not be allowed to continue scamming people and pretending that they will take care of complaints. It shouldn't have gotten to the point where I had to put in a complaint with the BBB. American Eagle should have had better business practices and made it right months ago.

If they do contact me and give me a refund, then and only then will I close this complaint.

      Respectfully,
      ***** ******
