On May 21st 2023 I went to Toyota after visiting a body shop for paint chipping on my white 2019 Toyota Tacoma. I have an extended bumper to bumper warranty. I was told by 2 local body shops that the paint chipping on doors of white model Toyotas is a known problem and that both shops are working on approved by Toyota repair jobs of white chipping paint. I went to Perry Auto body in SLO for an estimate on May 21st after visiting Toyota SLO as that is where they wanted me to get an estimate. It has been over 3 months and I have not been approved for a warrant to repair the paint chipping on the doors.Initial Complaint

I bought a used 2021 VW Tiguan from San Louis Obispo Toyota in August of 2022. I brought it in for a routine oil change in February of 2023, they said it wasn’t due until June. I brought it back June 26, they said they did not have oil for a German car that I bought from THEM! I returned a week later and was told they had the oil, but not the tools to do it! HOW WAS IT PRE CERTIFIED BEFORE THE SALE??? I then took it to German auto, Tucker said it had a MAJOR oil leak and had never seen anything like it before on a brand new car!! The car then caught fire and blew up! I had it towed to Toyota of San Louis Obispo, the general manager was NO HELP. He said he refunded my warranty money to get out of the problem! I still don’t have it, nor do I want it! I want my car fixed!!!!!! He then told me it is my fault for buying a VW from a Toyota dealership!!!!Initial Complaint

02/01/23 Pre Purchase Inspection of a used vehicle. Reviewed inspection report with technician over the phone. Purchased the vehicle based on Pre Purchase Inspection Report. After purchasing vehicle I came to learn vehicle has severe rust damage rendering it unsafe to drive. Toyota SLO's negligence in noting this very visible and severe rust damage but either a.) Toyota replacing the frame of the vehicle; or b.) Toyota buying the vehicle back from me for what I paid for it plus what I have put in to it since purchase. I purchased a warranty that covers windshield repairs. When I called to schedule an appoint for service, I confirmed with the person over the phone my repair would be covered under warranty. I got a call after I dropped off the car for service stating they do not do the repairs there and claimed it is outsourced. I asked how would I go about getting the service covered as they sold me the warranty and they did not disclose. I was told I would be called back but never was. When I went in person to pick up my car I would not get an answer, when I asked to speak to the service manager my information was taken down, but I did not receive a call with information. I want my warranty work done before the windshield completely cracks. This is the second time this dealership has refused or tried to deny work covered under I paid for. If this dealership will not provide the work, they need to refund the money I paid for these services back.Initial Complaint

Toyota SLO refused any responsibility for a malfunctioning brake booster and only offered "it's not under warranty" rather than seeing this obviously as a faulty part and replacing it as they should, as there is a campaign for faulty brake booster in the 2018 Toyota Highlander, and a recall for vehicles in certain VIN range. A quick search online brings up many instances of the exact issue we are having with many unhappy customers getting the same news as us, "it's not under warranty." According to Toyota vehicle Maintenance Schedule, the vacuum pump for the brake booster needs to be replaced as a regular maintenance or "wear" item every 120,000 miles. This is a very expensive maintenance item ($900 in parts, total $2300 including labor and shop materials), that needs to be performed by a Toyota certified technician. My 2018 Toyota Highlander was purchased in July, 2020 from Toyota SLO as a Certified used vehicle, with 17k miles. The car today has 46,000 miles and the service center says the brake booster is malfunctioning and needs to be replaced. If the booster is recommended replacement at 120,000 miles this part is only at 1/3 of its life span! There are multiple complaints on the NHTSA for this exact problem with 2018 Highlanders, and there is a campaign filed for this faulty booster (NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number : 18V211000). Toyota needs to fix this issue, not the consumer.
