On Saturday April 2nd, 2022 at 12:30pm I was contacted via telephone by ***************** of *************************** that he was asked by my father to see if he could qualify me for a loan to buy his condo that I have lived in for over twenty years now with gifting me the equity as my down payment which I was aware of however my father did not tell the name of the person who would be in contact with me. I provided my information over the phone to ************** and received an email outlining what I would qualify for and I emailed him and gave him permission to present this offer. During this time ************** had called me to inform me about a property of a real estate friend of his that had a house for sale in Pear ******** and he would check on the status, ************** called me back to advise me that the property had just been sold. I emailed ************** asking about a possibility of utilizing this loan for purchasing a mobile home in case the offer was not accepted. ************** responded and he does not do mobile home loans and that's when I asked him in an email if he would present the offer and he said he would in the email. When I contacted my father on Wednesday evening to see if ************** contacted him with the information for the offer my father said he had not heard from ************** as of yet. It wasn't until Friday April 15th late morning early afternoon that my father contacted me and said that the offer I was presented with was not what he was told and then proceeded to tell me what my credit report said and placing the condo up for sale. But also ************** stated that he was friends with my step mother and step sister at the beginning of the phone conversation and the he did speak with my father. My concern is that ************** disclosed my personal financial information to someone without my verbal or written consent. Now I have an inquiry on my credit report and would like this corrected as I now have to attempt to obtain a loan to move. Each time my report is ran I am dinged.Customer response

My concern is that the mortgage lender that contacted me to see what I may qualify for disclosed my personal information to my father who is the owner of the condo that I have resided in for over twenty years now and I feel that by disclosing this personal information was hurtful and telling my father that he qualified me for less than what was stated in the email that was sent to me on April 2nd, 2022. I believe that by ************** doing this was in the benefit of a larger profit and was not in the best interest to both parties as ************** stated in the onset of our conversation. As I understand that I have within 30 days to work with another broker in order to obtain a potential loan for the purpose of purchasing a home and that any hard inquiries will only lower my credit rating that I have been trying to build. I have the full email between myself and ************** as to regards of the matter is this is required. My only desire is to see if this hard inquiry could be removed and not counted against me as a breech of trust transpired. Thank you in advance for any assistance you may provide.Business response

Dear ******************:
Mason McDuffie Mortgage Corporation (MMMC) takes all consumer complaints seriously. We have a process whereby complaints are forwarded to our Complaint Manager, who researches the facts and attempts to resolve the issue in a fair and timely manner.
We have received your complaint field with the Better Business Bureau on April 22, 2022 that you wished to have MMMCs credit inquiry removed from your credit report an inquiry that is negatively impacting your credit score. Our research of the issue indicates the following:
On April 2, 2022, you discussed the qualification for a purchase loan with MMMCs loan originator, *****************. This qualification required that ************* obtain your credit payment history; you authorized such.
MMMC may order a credit report only for legitimate business purposes. Ordering a credit report to ***** credit to an applicant is a legitimate business purpose.
Once we have ordered a credit report, we do not have the ability to retract them. Thus, MMMCs credit inquiry will remain on your report. Please feel free to utilize this letter to explain these inquiries when it is in your interest.
We thank you for your business and wish you well.
