I contacted ************************* (President of Property and Home Design) by phone in mid-March 2024 for architectural services. ****** came to my home on March 28, 2024 to assess my property and understand my request. I issued a check on March 28, 2024 for $3,000 (attached) as deposit on the architectural plans for the addition of a master bedroom and bathroom. My wife signed the agreement on March 28, 2024 (attached). ****** emailed a floor plan to us on April 12, 2024 (attached). ****** informed us that the plans would be submitted to the City of ******** during the first week of May 2024. We did not receive a response from ****** during the first week of May 2024, so I emailed him on May 8, 2024. He did not respond. My wife called him on May 10, 2024, He did not answer or return her call. I called ****** on May 27, 2024. He did not answer or return my phone call. We have not had direct contact with ****** for since April 12, 2024. Since ****** has not followed the timeline of the agreement, nor has he been responsive or communicative, I began to do additional research.I searched the *************************** database and learned that ************************* is not a licensed architect. ****** has a prior enforcement action against him on February 5, 2019. We believed that ************************* was, in fact, a licensed Architect and he presented himself as an Architect when we described our home renovation request. Please note, I also indicated Architect on the memo line of the check that I issued to support my position. I would have preferred to address this matter with ****** directly, but he has not been responsive. On May 28, 2024, my wife sent ****** a text message that we would be reporting him to the California **************** He did not respond. We are requesting a return of our deposit from ****** so we can retain a licensed architect. We are also requesting to be released from our agreement as he has defaulted on his obligation by not following the stated timeline.
