My tax documents were incomplete and needed revisions which I did myself to file my own taxes. Yet I was coerced by ********************* to sign an engagement agreement to pay a fee. Unprofessional, incompetent, and unethical Date: 9/30/2022

      Business response

      10/16/2022

We require a signed engagement letter before we start service and the client is stated that they were coerced to signing it. We will not start work without it.  When the client did sign the engagement letter they did not provide all of the information to complete the return.    We had to get the client to provide us that information. When it was finally provided we completed the information based on the information provided. The client did not like the results and stated that there was more information to be provided but would not provide support so we would not create a fraudulent return without support so we requested that he provide that support.  The client had access to the initial return and when asked again to provide said information he stated he completed his return himself.   We were timely in responding and attempted to complete the return. He said that because we would not put the information on the return without the support that we were unprofessional and incompetent.  He threatened to *** us saying that we were unethical for upholding our contract that states that we get paid for the work completed even if we do not file the return.  The client was not required to sign the engagement letter if they did not want us to work on the return, when they signed the engagement letter the client contracted with us to complete the tax preparation and agreed to the terms.

We told him we would send it to collections per the engagement letter.  He paid the invoice and has now gone to social media and the BBB to try and tarnish our reputation.  If he would have spent this much effort in completing the organizer and providing support we would have been able to complete his return.  He came to us stating that he had to do the return for his previous preparer. It is obvious that the client does not understand that we are required to have support for everything we put on a return and we are not the first firm to request this information.
