Agreement to shingle around the solar panels could be was told to me by the business owners son who was the ******/crew leader. Only years later after a problem started happening with the solar production a technician discovered that the conduit was not properly lined up and a fitting was not secured by the roofing company causing rain water to enter the conduit. This damaged the solar panel wiring which might have caused damages to the inverter. The solar technician noticed that the shingles on the solar panel side of the house were not replaced as I just then found out years later. So the contractor did not do what what was verbally agreed upon. That side of the house was not visible to me and required someone on the roof to discover the problem. I will also be contacting the insurance company to see if faraday was paid for the work that wasnt done.Business response

***********************
This project was completed over 7 years ago with no issues.
As I recall ***************** wanted us to reroof and leave the solar panels in place. We were not to touch anything around the panels because we were not solar providers at the time and ***************** didnt want to roof that section.
I suggested against this but did the work as he requested. We had an agreed upon price for the portion of the roof we did. There were sections we couldnt do because ******** was in the way.
***********************owener
our agreement was to only roof what we could. We were not to touch the solar. We did not bill insurance for work we didnt do. We had an agreed upon price before work was completed. We were paid for the work we did by ****************** and not by the insurance company.
He wrote us the check not the insurance company. There would have been no money exchanged behind Mr ******** back.
He would have known exactly what this amount was prior to work beginning.
We did exactly as we were instructed to complete this project safely and to our job description laid out for us by ******************

I am rejecting this response because:
I would like a copy of the contract, stating what you just said regarding the solar panels that no you do not touch those and I was told that the shingles around the panels would be replaced because of that. Please provide proof stating that.
Sincerely,

We have moved offices and did not keep contracts older than 7 years old. Our workmanship warranty is currently 5 years. Your roof was done 8 years ago. I am sorry I am unable to help with this matter.
Solar Inverters go bad every ***** years especially ones of that age (your solar system is likely more than 10 years old). I did not install the solar system nor am I able to warrant your solar system or inverter.
It sounds to me like the inverter went bad (which is normal for an inverter of this age) and the solar company is looking for someone to pin this on. I am sorry we are unable to offer anything further than the information above to resolve this matter.
Please reach out to the solar company who installed the system to help you further.
Thank you

I have not received documentation yet that shows a contract stating what I did not want that side of the roof done! And it was verbally agreed between me and the owners son was that they could shingle around the the panels. As I stated before, I was under the impression that the company complied with the agreement and trusted them to do what was agreed to! Also the conduit to the solar panels was improperly reinstalled which created damage and caused a power failure of the entire system and the repairs should be charged to the the company. The picture shows that the conduit was installed on an angle instead of going straight up the roof as it was originally installed which shortened the run causing the connection to come apart. The connection (pictured) was completely outside of the conduit at that connection point and was exposed to rain and wire damage.***** wants $575 to repair the damage caused when roofing.Customer response

*****, you were the representative of ******* construction and made the agreement to go around the solar panels without removing them in a verbal agreement we had. You know the we had and did not live up to your agreement. Hopefully we can come to an agreement of some kind to either. Give me the materials to finish that side of the roof or I can supply the materials and have your crew install them after the panels are removed this time! Looking at the video you should see that the conduit was not ran straight up the roof as it was during installation by Solar City/Tesla. ***** will R &R the panels and realign the conduit correctly. This should be an acceptable resolution for both parties.Customer response

I have not received a reply from the business in almost a month and I am checking on a possible resolution.
thanks
