Contractor ********************* of Real Earth Matters tree service was paid to cut and/or trim dead trees/limbs and haul away all yard debris. Completed perhaps half of the work he was contracted to do. Photos prove this. Same day of the final payment in the amount of *******, contractor left, employees left, work not completed. That was May 9, 2022. He never returned. Contractor does not answer phone, does not return calls. I have also filed a complaint with CO Attorney General. I wish only that the final payment of ******* be returned, out of a total of $5100.00.One photo (A3) shows a tree that was not cut down properly but was pulled over by a truck.

On 25 April 22 I contracted with *********************, owner of Rare Earth Matters LLC (WWW.REMTREES.COM, ***********) for tree and landscaping services on my home property in Monument. I paid him 50% of the job fee per the contract. He did a few hours of work (~10% of the job) over the course of several days after which he stopped showing and failed to answer/return calls. He also stole two chainsaws I had made available to him to complete the work. I notified the local police department who filed a case number for the chainsaw theft. The sheriff also informed me this individual has a felony larceny warrant out for his arrest and they are looking for public assistance in locating **************** to help stop his criminal and civil law violations in the area.

I was referred to ********************* on Angi's List to remove *************** at a house we are preparing to sell. He called me & gave me an estimate. I told him I would get back to him when I was ready to make a decision. Over the next week he called me 3-4 times a day & when I did not respond (because as I had told him, I was not ready to make a decision), he went to the house and pressured our tenant call me directly on her phone. I had specifically told him NOT to contact our elderly renter. When I told our tenant to tell him I would call him later he talked her into giving him my father's (the owner of the house) phone number. **** then contacted him & pressured him into hiring him. He agreed to drop his price from $4200 to $3200 & against my advice, my father agreed to hire him. A week later I met Rich at the hosue. He said he would finish the work that ******** signed a contract to cut down a specific number of trees & remove all debris. **** asked to be paid in advance in cash. I instead agreed to write him a check, which he insisted I do before they started. I expected him to start the work then, but instead he went straight to the bank to cash it. His bank would not give him cash so he returned & asked for cash. I told him I was not comfortable with that & would pay when the work was done. He reluctantly agreed to start working & did. After doing roughly 2/3 of the work, he said they had to quit for the day & promise, repeatedly, to finish the next morning. I was not going to be in town the next day so I made the huge mistake of paying him in full, trusting he would finish the next day as promised. I gave him $600 cash & a check for $2700. He asked me to write the check to his "partner", *************************** ******. ****** cashed the check 20 minutes later. **** never returned to finish the work. I contacted him repeatedly & got excuse after excuse, promising to return and finish. It's now been 6 weeks. He no longer answers my calls & the work has not been done.

On March 9, 2022 I signed an agreement with ********************* of Real Earth Matters ************ to trim two trees on my property and to repair damage to my fence. He asked for a deposit of $1,050 which I provided. Over the next several days, **************** called to say there would be delays due to unavailability of materials and labor scheduling. During this time, **************** cashed my check. After about a week or so, **************** stopped returning my calls. I have called and left messages, or sent texts every two to three days since, with no response. On April 2d, I drove to the address on ******************** card, which turned out to be a residence in Security. The person at that address told me that **************** did not live there, but came a couple of times a week to pick up his mail. I asked that person to share a message with **************** to contact me, which has not happened. My last message to **************** was that he either trim my trees (ignoring the fence repair), or that he return my deposit. I still have had no response.

I hired this man to cut down and remove trees and stumps on January 10. He required an advanced payment. Instead of making the check payable to a business name, he required me to make the check payable to him personally. He went to my bank and presented the check for cash within 10 minutes of leaving my home. When I asked for a business license and proof of insurance, he assured me that he had it but did not produce any certificates. Trees were cut down the following day, stumps were cut high above ground and that's where his service ended. I have contacted him more than 25 times to get the agreed work completed. He brags he is busy with other work, promises to come by, makes excuses and never follows through. Today is February 22 and still no progress toward job completion. Another firm estimates that the cost to clean up the mess left behind is about $1,500.In my experience, this is not a legitimate business practice or a legitimate business man. It has been an expensive ****** for me. Engage this man at your own risk. You will regret the experience.
