Facility was not adequately prepared to give proper care to my mother immediately upon her arrival. We had to tell the staff person she was a level 5 care requirement and the girl said to us, how am I going to handle that tonight? Within 48 hours she had a fall and they failed to contact us for three hours and no one had checked to make sure she was okay. When they finally did check her out, they found she was extremely confused and had hit her elbow and knee but didnt know if she had hit her head or a possible concussion. They had already cashed our $15,000 check and we called and requested to cancel our contract based on a 3 day right of rec. and return our money immediately. They have failed to follow up regarding this cancellation request with an answer as to when we will receive a check. The staff admitted they had not followed procedure when she fell, they were supposed to call the family immediately and also determine if she needed medical help. The location is ********* ***************** in ********, **. My mom is still in the hospital and we need those funds to move her immediately into another facility before her discharge.

In February, 2021, my mother needed a place to live. A Place for Mom provided three options, including ************ Senior Living owned by Spectrum Retirement Communities, LLC. After considering the options, I determined that ************ would be best for her. The prices for the communities were similar, but ************ appeared cleaner and brighter. The deciding factor, however, was the promise that her rental fee would remain locked and unchanging for 36 months, following which the rental fee would be raised no more than 4% each year thereafter. Since my mom had just had a $20,000 inheritance from her parents stolen at the previous home where she was residing, cost was a significant factor. The other communities offered similar prices, but they did not include the 4% price increase ceiling. This price increase lock was confirmed by both sales agents who assisted her. However, the price increase ceiling was then left out of the contract. This was a material part of the decision to sign with ************.As the 36 months has expired, Spectrum Retirement Communities, LLC has provided a new contract with a 44.5% increase in rent per month. This is devastating to my mother who has no assets other than a 17 year old car. She is living on social security. At this point, she is devastated and doesn't know where she will live. My mother's health is fragile as she has been in and out of the hospital several times over the past three months. This price increase is unconscionable and has put her in an even more vulnerable position. We request the help of the Better Business Bureau to hold Spectrum Retirement Communities, LLC to their word. My mom moved into ************ at the end of Covid when the facility was empty and desperate for residents. Spectrum should be held accountable for their sales practices. Preying on a vulnerable part of the community is despicable and should not be allowed. An Elder Abuse claim has also been filed to induce and investigation.

I have attached the letter that was submitted to the corporate office. We just received a check for $265.81 with no explanation and we have not cashed it. There were many issues that I brought ** in the letter.
