I had High Country re-attach a yakima rack that was ripped off my car in June on 7/2/24.The rack was not originally installed by them. The rack was laid out and re-attached with NO mention of the brackets being bent. I took my car through a drive through car wash today, 7/3/24 and the rack was ripped off in the wash. I immediately called High Country to tell them that the rack was re-attached improperly. I was told that the brackets were bent and that I should not have taken it through the car wash. Previously, I had taken it through the car wash for over a year with no issues. I asked if they could refund my money for not being able to preform the job I paid for, I was told that all they could do was re-attach the rack. I said no, as this would obviously not solve the problem and the rack is now too damaged from the car wash. There are damages on my car as well. I was told it was my fault for taking it through the car wash. I asked why it was re-installed if they knew the brackets were bent and I was told that they cannot determine that they were "too" bent unless they did diagnostic testing. Who is liable for the damage to my car? I wanted a refund but was told it's my fault? I am very frustrated.Business response

This whole story is inaccurate....yet we are willing to refund the $92.50. Vehicle racks are made to support weight or downforce and not up force. This person initially ripped the rack of due to up force by hauling a raft. Bottom line is we stand behind our work and it is not worth the argument over small amount like this. Look at our BBB complaints.... zero and we will keep it that way.Business response

Check is in the mail to this person. I would assume she has complained about the first shop that she had it repaired by as well.... bottom line is people have to understand what the product is designed to do or not do. She clearly does not know what she is doing.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because: I have not received a check. I did not previously take my vehicle to another shop. This is the only shop I took my vehicle to. They clearly did not know what they were doing since tehy mounted a broken rack onto my vehicle and they did not tell me it was broken until I reached back out to them after the rack was ripped of the top my car in a car wash. This is a horrible way to conduct business.

I have received a refund via check.
