I just bought a house and become a new Mitchell customer, the previous owner of the house was using Mitchell service as well and provided me an estimate letter for the oil price left in the tank, the estimate letter was written by sales rep from Mitchell. It shows as of 2/9/2024, oil left in tank was 288 gals (tank size is 330 gals), we paid the previous owner 1209.31$ for the oil price. As of 2/21/2024, we found the heating system only blow cold air and had a technician came to figure out what’s happen, he did a lot of check and finally find the oil tank was empty and some parts of furnace broken because it kept running with an empty tank. It’s impossible to burn 288 gals of oil in 12 days. We called Mitchell and they found last time they did oil delivery service was 1/4/2024. That was 34days from 2/9/2024, the estimate they did still show the tank is almost full after 34days in cold winter month (288gals/330gals). Apparently, whoever did the estimate didn’t do his job, didn’t verify the previous delivery history and didn’t estimate it correctly, the gage may stuck and still show oil level high, but they just blindly follow whatever the gage indicates without verify it. Which make us pay almost full tank oil price for empty tank and keep our furnace running without even realize the tank was empty, that broke the furnace and let the house sitting in cold weather without heating for multiple days. On 2/24/2024, I had an oil delivered to my house and they added it back to full, but because of their mistake, I paid two tanks of oil price only get one tank of oil.

Terminated my contract with Mitchell Oil - and they came without authorization and delivered 100 gallons when no one was here. I called to complain. They said it was their mistake but I still have to pay for the oil. I said I will NOT pay for something I never asked for (not to mention it's overpriced / well over spot-rate for oil. ) I've been told that N.E. Mitchell were swindlers in this way and would like BBB to forward my complaint and resolve this issue. As it stands, N.E. Mitchell is sending a truck to pump out the oil. I have no idea if this action will cause damage to my heating system. Please intervene! Thanks.
