Upon this company's recommendation, we replaced the roof on this property in October of 2014. The initial issue was a consistent leak in our kitchen light fixture, which the company told us were caused by ice dams (see attached photos). For the past two years (give or take), we have had the leak reoccur in the same fixture (year-round) in addition to another one that's also located in the kitchen. We have had them out multiple times, and each time they claim it's an issue with the gutter, or an issue with the window, but never the roof itself. I have now had two other roofing companies on the property to look at the problem, and both stated that the leak is indeed being caused by the roof. They did not want to do any work on it and suggested I go back to the original installer, so I tend to believe them since they aren't trying to make a sale. Whether it's poorly cut shingles, or not replacing some of the flashing (as they should have per the contract), there were several possible causes that the other companies outlined that could be the source of the leaks. We also now have mold growing on the rafters because of how much water has been running down them. The company continues to try and deny repairs under their warranty by claiming it's not caused by the work, despite other professional opinions.

Hello I will be meeting with the customer on Friday 10/20 to determine next steps.

I spoke with Jim Carrol on 4/26/23 about the bottom 3 layers of bricks of our chimney which we could see were not replaced. We contracted with JP Carrol Roofing to replace our chimney on 4/7/19 for $2,150. One year later, the chimney was still leaking so they put silicone around it. Since it was still leaking, we contracted with another roofer to replace our roof. Upon removal of the roof, we could see that the chimney had not been completely replaced, the bottom 3 rows of bricks were original and had not been replaced. It was impossible to replace the lower bricks without removing the entire chimney which would have cost $5,000. We therefore had our roofers’ mason repoint the bottom of the chimney which cost us $500. We also were charged an additional $225 for replacement of the plywood by the chimney which was ruined from leaking. The chimney now does not have the integrity it would have had if JP Carrol’s masons replaced the chimney correctly. I sent pictures to Jim Carrol of the chimney with the exposed bottom layers of brick which had not been replaced. We discussed it on the phone but did not reach an agreement. We are requesting $1,000 reimbursement from JP Carrol Roofing to reimburse us and a small amount for the lack of integrity of the chimney as is. Thank you for your assistance.

I apologize, I thought I had submitted this response on 5/26/2022.

James Carroll owner of the business met with *** ********. When she brought this issue to our attention we contacted the Sub-Contractor that had performed the chimney job for us. He said that he only replaces the chimney down to the roof line and refused to return to the job to take off the additional rows of brick that were uncovered when she was having another roofing contractor install her new roof.

Jim explained to her that the chimney layers that were uncovered were in good shape and did not impact the integrity of the roof as they would be covered when the roof job was completed.

The $1,000 that she was requesting was not reasonable in light of the amount of brick that would have to be replaced if she were to hire another mason to do the work. A check for $500 was mailed to *** ******** and we asked for her to sign a letter of release, confirming the agreement to accept a $500.00 "refund". She has not returned the release to us yet.

      Respectfully  submitted,

      Anne C*******

The roofing company was hired by the association I live in for a complete roof replacement. The crew did a horrible job cleaning up after themselves which caused me to end up with nails in my front tired. I contacted the company regarding the incident I was told to talk to Jack “the owner’s son” he agreed to pay for 2 tires via email on 6/20/22. I have not received the check. I called and emailed him several times and he has stopped responding.

      Hello,

This check was written to Ms. ****** on 8/15/22 Check number **** for the agreed upon amount. The check also included an apology letter that a nail was found in her tire. Ms. ****** has not acknowledged receipt of the check but I can only assume given the time that has passed she has received the check. This issue should be considered resolved. Thank you.
