Baker Metal works shows a standard color chart. Our roofer quoted us on a price for a new roof, and told us they get their metal roofing locally through Baker Metal Works & Supply. My husband and I went inside, were greeted by the gentlemen, and were asked if we needed help. We let them know we were there to look at colors for our new roof, and they gave us a handout that showed their standard colors and let us know that we could take home some color sample pieces of the metal. We looked at a few colors, took some samples, and gave our thanks to the gentlemen for their help. We picked out a color and let our roofer know. He then called us and told us that color we picked would be extra because it was one of the "premium colors". We did not see pricing anywhere, and nowhere is it notated online or on their color chart handout that they have premium colors. Our roofer agreed. Everything is listed as a standard color. Had we known which colors were standard or premium, we would have been able to make a more informed decision on roof color and price points for the roofing job. This complaint is valid in that we did not specify that we do have color options that have higher pricing on our chart nor our website. In the 20+ years of doing a good, honest business this has never been brought to our attention. It has always been expected of our sales teams to notify the contractor and/or homeowner when they speak to them.
Our plan of action, in order to prevent this from happening again in the future is that we are going to update our color charts to reflect that we do offer premium colors and therefore may be priced accordingly. Also, we are going to contact our website administrator to have the website updated as well.
We are disappointed that this happened and will do our best to make sure that it does not happen again.
