Tried to get a duplicate title only to find Nicholas Financial still had a lien on the vehicle. It is a 2004 GMC Envoy XL. The loan was paid off probably 10 years ago. I see this has been an issue for many other people. Need the title to sell the vehicle.

I have attached a copy of the lien release letter. The original will go out in tomorrow's mail.

Both letters were attached to my original response (she just had to scroll down to get the second letter). Both original letters were mailed to the customer at the address she provided in her complaint. We received return mail due to no mail receptacle. It is not our fault if she is not receiving her mail. She should provide an alternate mailing address to receive her letters. In the meantime, we will mail out a new letter to the same address and hopefully she will receive that one.

I originally financed a 3500 Chevrolet express van from metrolina auto, which was than transferred to ******* financial - which I FULFILLED my debt obligations since April 12, 2021. I received a title with a lien with metrolina still as the lien holder. Unfortunately the dmv lost it and I now I do not have a title. However, I never received a lien release, which ***** E D. Or the title after it being paid off - which ***** E ************ portfolio keeps saying they will send it - puts me on hold for a long time. Then tells me I should receive it in about 5 - 7 business days. But I have yet to receive anything. I was told this 5 times already. I really need these documents to sell my van. I will absolutely be pursuing legal action if this is not resolved immediately.

Hello. My name is ************************* and I purchased a car from Nicholas Financial on June 9, 2014. The car was paid off in full on November 15, 2018. The car was purchased from Bedford Auto Wholesale in *******, ****. I went to the title bureau as I am trying to sell the car and need a duplicate title. I was told there is a lien on the car and that I would have to contact the finance company which I tried to do but found out that they were no longer in business. So we were told to contact the company that bought them. Which we did, and they have no record of this account. Westlake purchased Nicholas in 2022, we paid the car off in 2018. Our credit sesame report shows the car being paid off and the account closed. I really don't believe I received the title from them. We really need this lien removed so we can sell this car, as we have just found out that my wife has been diagnosed with cancer and we need the money. Please help. I don't know where else to turn. Please just remove this lien. Any help would be so appreciated. Thank you.

I purchased my vehicle from ******* ********************** in 2013, once it was paid off I contacted ******* ********************** to get my title. I was informed that ******* ********************** had closed and ******** took over. They stated they could not find my account because they only work with active accounts. I provided them with the Vin number, last four of social and DOB only to be told sorry nothing we can do. I went to the *** and they stated that they can't give me my title without a lien release. Which I can't obtain, even the *** at the *** reached out to ******** but no one would help her either! I have been trying for a year to get a Discharge of Lien Release Letter sent to me and to the ***. Please help me and send the release letter as soon as you can. Per conversation with *****************, he advised us that they do not have a record on file for me and he would email the *** to inform them of that, but he never emailed the *** to inform them that there was no record on file for our vehicle. After tracking down anyone for help we found an email address for ************************* and westlake sent us a support ticket #*****, but never resolved our issue and we need it resolved ASAP. Thank you in advance.

I have reviewed this complaint. Customer opened a loan with ********************** on 12/16/2016. When he originated the loan, he authorized the transaction and the credit reporting. He mentioned credit card payments, but we are not a credit card company, so I don't believe that applies to Nicholas Financial, Inc. He did not state any specific credit reporting inaccuracies. If he can provide us with a copy of his current credit report and specify the inaccuracies, we will be more than happy to review further.
