I decided not to file but this bothers me constantly. The issue is that I took my boat to Crossed industries in April of 2023. I informed them that water is getting in my gas tank and fuel system and I need to find out the problem. I said since water is in the gas th boat only turns over(cranks) and will not start. Crossed industries then called me a few days later and told me the problem is a bad Vapor Seperator Tank(***) which is causing the water to mix in the fuel. I was told it would be about $1700 to replace the *** and I would have to bring about $1000 to buy the part. I asked the technician if that would solve my problem. He responded yes. I informed the tech I would agree to have work completed since that would solve the problem. I took Crossed Industries the money and and they said they completed the work. Crossed said they hooked a gas tank to my boat and did a water test and it worked. They told me to empty all fuel from tank since the company has fuel dumping restrictions. I emptied all the old fuel from my tank and filled it back with about 30 gallons. When I took the boat out I had the same problem. I returned and was told I must not have removed all the fuel and that was the problem. Crossed then offered to remove all the fuel for $250+. I paid and had them remove the fuel. When I took the boat out I experienced the same problem. I then was extremely upset so I parked the boat. I then took the boat back and was told I needed a new *** and would have to pay again. The same *** I supposedly purchased brand new and had them install about a month prior. The owner told me nothing else could be done and I would have to pay. I then told him the issues and how I had to pay to get fuel drained. He argued that they would never drain fuel because its illegal. His employee sadly said they charged me to drain the fuel. I would like at least half my money back. Crossed scammed me. Issue was a bad fuel tank found by a different mechanic. Auxillary tank fixed issue.

In today's day and age it is sad to see people attempting to get "refunds" nearly 18 months after us fixing the *** the first time. The only scamming being conducted at this time is this complaint.  The *** was in fact replaced as was necessary because it was a bad *** due to the amount of water being pumped into it and the oxidation which occurs because of that water.  After which we informed the customer to NOT hook his current fuel tank up to the motor because there was water in the fuel and at the time we were at compacity for storing old fuel.  This was after we had drained his fuel tank once before, prior to us being at capacity.  Clearly he did not heed the instruction as six month later he came back and the new *** we had put in was bad again due to water in fuel.

The customer was told explicitly there was water in his system and it would continue to hurt the functioning parts of his motor if he did not dispose of it.  Submitting a claim a year after the last time we saw this customer due to disregarding preventative maintenance recommendations is borderline libel.

Claiming a year after the fact that the technicians did not tell you there was an issue with the fuel tank, when you yourself acknowledge we told you to get it pumped out and cleaned is erroneous at best.  How would we know to tell you to pump out the fuel tank without looking at it.

Again, this complaint coming over a year after our last interaction is tantamount to libel and is an attack outside the parameters of our regular 30 day guarantee of our work, which is written on each of our invoices signed by the customer.  Had this complaint been a real issue and not a customer attempting to scam out of something he paid for 365 days ago we do and always will stand by our work and would seek to resolve this.

This will be my last communication because I felt better afterletting everything out about your incompetence. I understand your company has to save face. However I will state the true facts. Your company told me the reason I was getting water in my gas tank is because I needed a new Vapor Seperator(VST) Tank. Your company then said I needed to drain all the bad fuel from my tank, refill the tank and put fuel treatment in the tank. If you would have told me my tank was bad, any reasonable person would agree that you would advise me to replace the tank or use an auxiliary tank however you never told me I had a bad tank, nor do you or I have paperwork saying I have a bad tank. The lie you just wrote was good but as you can see it makes no sense. If you told me my fuel tank was bad, why would you tell me to drain it and add more gas to the same damaged tank. You told me a new VST would solve my problem. I paid $1700 without complaining. Then when I brought my boat back you told me I had to "buy another VST because the company you deal with does not offer replacement once it's purchased." Anyway, another technician found the bad areas on the tank and he hooked up an auxiliary tank to solve the problem. I appreciate the BBB for allowing me to voice my complaint and I appreciate you for at least responding even if it was untruthful. I definitely should have reached out to BBB earlier to exhaust all remedies. Hopefully you can see how your response does not make since but lies usually don't. Lastly, you did the equivalent of taking your car to the shop to diagnose a fuel leak, they tell you a new egine will fix the problem and you pay for it. They then disconnect your fuel tank and place their fuel tank on your car and informs you your car drives good on their tank. You then reconnect your fuel tank and it still leaks so the shop says you need to buy another engine. You find out your tank still has a small hole and that was the problem the entire time. Good day gentlemen! I am done and I do appreciate all the feedback.

      Sincerely,

You've provided zero evidence of any of our competitors telling you what you want to hear.  The fact this complaint is over a year after our last interaction says volumes about your actual intentions here.

The BBB allowing small businesses to be held hostage by complaints as erroneous and libelous as this is shameful.  Especially a year after the fact.

Facts, you had a bad *** and we fixed it.  Someone telling you the *** was fine after that proves that point.  We also told you what they told you, you had a fuel tank issue and to get it fixed, which we didn't have the capacity for at the time.

We absolutely do stand by our work and had you been unhappy with it within the 30 days guarantee we do on all our work, we would absolutely fix the problem.  However, you waited over a year and are now attempting to get a refund for something that's non-refundable.

Please next time heed the advice of your techs, it can be costly when you don't.

This shows that you are not reading my responses. You are only trying to cover up bad business practices with your response. After my last response I was going to leave it alone but I have to clarify for the lies you told. In your last response, you said I had a bad *** and you "fixed it." You then said someone told me the **** was fine and that proves that point." Totally incorrect!!! Actually when I took my boat back to you the 3rd time, YOUR tech said I needed another ***. That's the reason I was arguing with the owner. I was told your *** company does not warranty the *** after it has been put on a boat. Your company told me I had to purchase another *** after I paid $1700 to get it replaced. Your company never said anything about a faulty tank. I still have the paperwork where you advised me to drain the tank and refill with gas. Again, why would you advise that and also say the tank bad. Right before I argued with the owner, your technician swore me up and down the water had to be coming in from the top of the boat. I can admit I waited over a year to contact anyone. To be honest, I was dealing with cancer treatment and recovery so the boat was not my main concern. I was going to leave it alone after my last response but I hate when grown people have to lie about stuff. No need to lie, we are grown, we should be able to discuss truthfully even if we disagree. Since you want to lie, now I think I will take all my evidence to court. Recovery going well, I have time now. Thanks BBB, I really do appreciate your process. We could have worked it out if they did not continuously lie. No accountability, morals or professionalism.

I took my motor to Crossed Industries because I was having a minor issue with sputtering sometimes at high speeds around 60-70mph.I dropped the boat off on 12/20. I was called on 12/23 and told that the motor was inspected, and a problem was identified but parts needed to be ordered before moving forward. I paid for said fee.I was called on 12/29 to pick up the boat, the problem was corrected and it was ready to go. I picked the boat up on 12/30 from the ****** and headed straight to the lake to check to make sure the motor was running properly. Upon arriving to the boat ramp, I cranked up the motor and realized immediately that there was a problem. It was vibrating really hard at idle and wouldnt get on plane at all. On 12/30 they are only open from 9am-12pm. So it was around ****pm where I reached out to one of the mechanics to inform them of my troubles while I was at the ramp with the boat in distress. Said mechanic got in contact with the owner and the owner agreed to look at the motor again, free of charge, because he wanted to stand behind his work.We arranged a meeting the next day 12/31/23 with the head mechanic and the owner. At the ******, they diagnosed the issue on land and confirmed with a water test run that I was apart of. I was assured that this problem would be corrected and it was an easy fix.I was called on 1/2/24 to come pick up the motor. They lake tested it after repairs and everything was functioning as promised. I told them I would pick the boat up 1/3/24 at 8am.8am came on 1/3/24 but I wasn't able to meet them there because of a family situation so I informed them that I would come pick up the boat on 1/5/24. Around 10am that same morning, I received a call from the head mechanic stating that my motor was blown and it wasn't there fault.Spoke with the owner that same day after speaking with the mechanic and they are washing their hands of me and my boat even though it was in their care when the failure happened

The sputtering issue was reviewed and a bad tracker valve was identified and replaced.  Upon replacement a test drive was made and the boat operated as designed.

Soon after due to neglect and leaving ethanol fuel in a boat with fuel lines not rated for ethanol, the additional fuel pressure made by a properly operating tracker valve collapsed the interior liner of the fuel line.  This was the issue described on Saturday 12/30.  However, false information being stated about our hours as Saturday hours have been 8:00 am to 3:00 pm since December of 2022, well over a year.  Additionally the screenshot shared shows the contact of our tech shows the interaction was not until almost 6:00 pm that night.  As the owner we decided to attempt to make the customer happy and identify the issue of the fuel line.  With proper fuel pressure at idle, but not at throttle under load we isolated the motor with a shop tank and identified it must be the fuel lines.  We came in on 1/1/2024 (we were closed for the holiday) as well to get it fixed as soon as possible to appease this unruly customer.

When he said he would not return on Tuesday 1/2/2024 we reviewed his last service which was completed on 7/28/2023 and decided we'd replace his spark plugs on the house to ensure they didn't get fouled when he was running it lean with the bad tracker valve.

Upon removing the #6 spark plug we found it to be fouled catastrophically which is a result of the piston failing and running the motor with the #6 piston blown.  At which point we conducted a compression check of the motor and found the #6 was no longer holding compression.  After using the scope to view the interior of the piston it is clear and evident that this has been the result of both neglect and an issue which occurred over time.  At no time could that damage had occurred during the time the boat was in our shop.  ********* likely had been showing signs of this for at least 3-4 months with the owner neglecting the tell tale signs.

This motor has well over **** hours on it and without appropriate care they tend to have this result.
