So first off the transaction occurred on April 10th, 2023 and I made a down payment of $1500 to him in regards to a 2012 ****** Altima. Now this vehicle he clearly stated that it had **NO prior issues**, his "mechanics" check on his vehicles in his shop regularly. He also stated that he had one of his mechanics drive the car for a few weeks as a daily driver and he found no issues with it. Now fast forward to when we finally purchased the car and I started driving it around. We only had the car for 2 weeks mind you, I decided to drive back to the dealership in regards to him saying the vehicle has a stolen tag on it impeding him from making a tag for it. He never stated the car was stolen BEFORE us giving him any money. Now he decides that he should inform of this AFTER the transaction. Now when we were driving to the dealership, mind you I was driving whilst being a bit scared because I realized the brake on the car lowered completely, for example, I had to drive my foot down to be able to stop the car. So, whilst driving as I needed to brake the car LUNGED with me and my son forward, stopping in the middle of the road. When I tried to just drive to a nearby parking space the car lunged once again so I decided not to drive anymore with the car. I contacted ******, telling him we need the car towed. The tow truck came the car was now in his hands. We decided to abandon the deal with him, because the car was clearly issue ridden. He finally decided to contact ** on May 10th, explaining that the car was now fixed, here's what he said, "The car had engine issues", "We had to change the tires as well" He NEVER said any of this BEFORE the transaction took place. This was the nail in the coffin for me since I would not be driving a vehicle that is pierced together with me AND my children. The business wants to keep the $1500, because seemingly they don't care about customers after transactions occur.I would like a refund of the $1500 I spent.

      Business response

      06/06/2023

      Hello,

This response is late because I just received the letter. Our mailbox was broken into and was just replaced by the post office.

***************************** purchased a vehicle on 4/10/23 with a NON-REFUNDABLE down-payment of $1500. ******* signed a document stating that she is purchasing the vehicle AS IS and no further promises were by Florida Prestige Auto Sales to provide repairs for the vehicle. After having the vehicle for about 3 weeks she complained that there was an issue with the car. As a courtesy, we checked and tested the vehicle, there wasnt an issue with the brakes as she stated. We replaced the motor mounts and notified her that her car is ready. She agreed to pick up the car, then stated that she had no way of getting to our place of business. The car was dropped off to her. ****************** doesnt have a drivers license, she has a learners permit which might be a factor that contributed to her inexperience handling the vehicle. she signed an agreement to re-pay ****************** for the car loan. She is therefore responsible for the loan.
