They lied to me, they said they were a warranty company and they are not. They took ****** out of my account pretending to be a warranty company.Line 5, LLC Response

Line 5 has reached out to Mr. ***** and addressed all of his concerns.
Additionally, Line 5 would like to note that it is simply a finance company which offers financing to consumers for automotive products and services such as extended warranties and service contracts. Line 5 is not the company which sells these products, is not the company which spoke with Mr. *****, and is not the company which took money from Mr. *****.

Thank you for providing Line 5, LLC with an opportunity to address and respond to your concerns. It appears you have some misconceptions about the loan you obtained from Line 5, LLC, and we appreciate the chance to clear things up for you.
Line 5, LLC is not the company which sold you the vehicle protection plans you purchased, and Line 5, LLC is not the company which offers/administers the vehicle protection plans you purchased. Rather, Line 5, LLC is a finance company which offers financing to consumers for automotive products and services such as extended warranties and service contracts. Line 5, LLC offers it financing services through various third-party automobile dealerships and sellers strictly for the purpose of allowing consumers an alternative to paying in full for products such as extended warranties and service contracts at the time of their purchase. When a consumer finances a product with Line 5, LLC, a Retail Installment Contract is prepared by the seller which lays out the terms of the Line 5, LLC loan, upon receipt of the fully executed Retail Installment Contract , Line 5, LLC issues payment to the seller, and Line 5, LLC opens an account for the customer per the terms of the Retail Installment Contract. Once Line 5, LLC funds the customer’s loan, the customer becomes obligated to repay the loan to Line 5, LLC pursuant to the terms of the Retail Installment Contract.
Line 5, LLC understands and appreciates that you cancelled the vehicle protection plans you purchased. However, as explained in the Retail Installment Contract which you signed: “[I]f we or you cancel any Protection Plan… you agree to pay us any refund, benefit or other proceeds you receive from the Setler or Administrator ln connection with any Protection Plan immediately upon our demand. You also agree that the Seller or Administrator may directly pay to us any refund, benefit or other proceeds payable under any Protection Plan upon acceleration of this Contract or cancellation of any Protection Plan… any refund, benefit or other proceeds we receive in connection with the Protection Plan may reduce the total number of remaining payments under this Contract and/or the amount of the final payment, but you must still continue to make your regular monthly
payments as scheduled in this Contract until the Contract is paid in full.”
Here, Line 5, LLC financed a total amount of $5,243.00 for your vehicle protection plans. After you elected to cancel your vehicle protection plans Line 5, LLC received a cancellation refund of $1,743.00, and there is a remaining balance of $3,579.90 on your account which you remain obligated to repay. Line 5, LLC is happy to provide you with a more detailed breakdown of the total amount you financed, the payments you made on your account, and the cancellation refund obtained by Line 5, LLC if you would like additional information as to why there is a remaining balance of $3,579.90 still due and owing on your account. If I can give give these people a zero star review I would...because after several attempted calls to this company and Drive Smart to cancel our my services with both of them I was given the run around. I called Smart Drive first to cancel my contract they wouldn't and told me I needed to call Line 5 called line 5 to cancel out services and was told to call Smart Drive cancellation Dept only to be put on hold and hung up on. How can you force a person to keep your services especially when I don't have an auto loan on my vehicle it's paid for so you guys shouldn't try to force no customer to keep your services. I wouldn't recommend neither one of these companies to no one knowingly that they will not let you cancel their services and give you the run around. This company Drove Smart is a complete scam. Beware!!!!

Thank you for providing Line 5, LLC with an opportunity to address and respond to your concerns. Line 5, LLC takes all customer feedback very seriously and is committed to ensuring that our customers receive the best possible experience through timely and transparent communications.
Line 5, LLC is a finance company which offers financing to consumers for automotive products and services such as extended warranties and service contracts. Line 5, LLC is not the company which sells or administers the automotive products which are being purchased by the consumer. Line 5, LLC offers it financing services through various third-party automobile dealerships and sellers strictly for the purpose of allowing consumers an alternative to paying in full for products such as extended warranties and service contracts at the time of their purchase. When a consumer finances a product with Line 5, LLC, a Retail Installment Contract is prepared by the seller which lays out the terms of the Line 5, LLC loan, upon receipt of the fully executed Retail Installment Contract Line 5, LLC issues payment to the seller, and Line 5, LLC opens an account for the customer per the terms of the Retail Installment Contract. Once Line 5, LLC funds the customer’s loan, the customer becomes obligated to repay the loan to Line 5, LLC pursuant to the terms of the Retail Installment Contract.
Here, Ms. W*** purchased a Drive Smart vehicle service contract from Nationwide Vehicle Assurance, which is a separate and distinct company from Line 5, LLC, on May 23, 2023 and elected to finance the purchase of that vehicle service contract (totaling $ 3,742.00) through Line 5, LLC. Upon receipt of the Retail Installment Contract signed by Ms. W*** Line 5, LLC issued funding to Nationwide Vehicle Assurance. Pursuant to the terms of the Retail Installment Contract signed by Ms. W***, Ms. W*** was to make 51 monthly payments of $107.47 to repay her loan, with the first payment being due on June 22, 2023.
Line 5, LLC acknowledges that Ms. W*** previously contacted Line 5, LLC seeking to cancel the vehicle service contract she purchased from Nationwide Vehicle Assurance. However, pursuant to the terms of the Retail Installment Contract signed by Ms. W*** Line 5, LLC, Line 5, LLC has only a limited power of attorney to cancel a customer’s vehicle service contract in the event that they default on their repayment obligations. Otherwise, Line 5, LLC is not in a position to cancel a customer’s vehicle service contract, and the customer must contact the company which sold them the vehicle service contract in order to cancel. This is what Line 5, LLC explained to Ms. W***, and the reason why she was referred back to Nationwide Vehicle Assurance.
However, in October 22, 2024 Ms. W*** reported her automated payment on her Line 5, LLC account as fraudulent. As a result, Line 5, LLC issued a cancellation notice to Nationwide Vehicle Assurance. When a vehicle service contract is cancelled prematurely, as was the case here, a prorated refund is typically issued by the administrator of the vehicle service contract, is sent to the seller, and is then supposed to be sent to Line 5, LLC so that the refund may be deducted from the balance due and owing on the customer’s account; if there is a remaining balance on the account the customer remains obligated to payoff that balance, if there is an overage the excess funds will be returned to the customer. This process typically takes 6 to 8 weeks to complete. Notwithstanding that the vehicle service contract has been cancelled, Ms. W*** will remain obligated to repay the loan she took from Line 5, LLC until the balance on her account reaches zero.
To the extent that Ms. W*** takes issue with the manner in which Nationwide Vehicle Assurance explained to her the vehicle service contract, the fact that she was financing the purchase of the vehicle service contract through Line 5, LLC, and/or the cancellation of the vehicle service contract she purchased from them, Line 5, LLC would advise Ms. W*** to address those issues directly with Nationwide Vehicle Assurance. Line 5, LLC played absolutely no role in the sales process, nor the claimed cancellation process, has no knowledge of what information was or was not relayed to Ms. W*** by Nationwide Vehicle Assurance, and therefore is not in a position to comment upon Ms. W***’s concerns regarding the conduct of Nationwide Vehicle Assurance.Review from Chonita G

Today I spoke with ***** **** with Line 5 and she was very knowledgable and helpful for cancelling my Warranty Loan with Line 5 and Auto Defender. I appreciate her time and help! Auto Defender however we have been waiting on a call back from them for over 5 hours from the Manager and still waiting. This call that is put in with them is just to make them aware we are cancelling for Finanical reasons. I also did see where Line 5 did reach out to them on my behalf to let them know this was going to be cancelled as well but we were told to contact them also. Thank you so much for all your help! ******* ********Review from Lourdes C
