We purchased an AC unit with an all parts 10 year warranty in 2019. A few days ago the unit stopped working and we called the company that installed it and serviced the unit in May 2022. At first we were told to use a shop vac and the owner was sure that would work. It did not so I called in the early morning the next day and a tech was sent out. He did not seem to know what he was doing and went in the attic first and then in the backyard, My daughter, husband, and neighbors all witnessed the tech attempting to "fix" the unit when a explosion occurred and freon went all over the place, including on the lawn chair. I was told that the system was "shot" and would be contacted and that it was covered under warranty. Never was there a word about any service call or other fees. Then, I received a text message with an inflated price for Labor and various parts that were not included in the warranty, despite having an all parts warranty. The total for the repair would be 2700+ and it was alleged that the tech observed burn marks on the unit when he came which was completely false as the explosion occurred when the tech was present. I did want the unit repaired but was told I had to come up with money "today" as it needed to be fixed. I regrettably mentioned that my mother would be assisting financially with her card which the owner smuggly mentioned in his email not willing to take responsibility for the damage caused by the tech. Nevertheless, the owner will not replace the unit he damaged . We had several companies come by 06/01/2023 and verified that whomever handled the attempted repair did something wrong and in fact poorly installed the wrong size system for our home leading to the AC failure.
