I dropped my lawn leaf blower off to be repaired on July 2, 2024. I was notified approximately eight days later that my unit was not under warranty.. because they had looked at the fuel bowl and decided the wrong fuel was used in the blower, which I find to be absolutely false. I stated that I did not want any repair work to be done to the blower. They told me to come in and pick it up, when I attempted to pick it up, they wanted to charge me a diagnostic fee nowhere at the facility. Did they post this or status? They don’t state their hourly rates or anything else in my opinion looking into a fuel bowl which is clear plastic does not constitute a diagnosis . They don’t have any signs or anything that indicates that there would be a fee to diagnose the unit I was only made aware of this when I went to pick up the leaf blower by the individual at the counter. They do not give you any paperwork or receipt when you drop your equipment off to be repaired , I refuse to pay the diagnostics fee and left without my leaf blower I should have been given a receipt and on that receipt should’ve been an itemized cost for labor, diagnostic fees, storage and so on none of this occurred because they do not give you any paperwork. I feel that they are capricious and their business practices. I would like my unit return to me without any damage.Business response

Customer brought a Echo 2-stroke leaf blower in for repair because the motor was seized or locked up. Customer was advised of rates and diagnostic fees prior to submitting work order. There is also a sign behind register informing customers of labor rates.
My factory certified tech that diagnosed the unit, noticed the fuel tank was empty but the primer bulb had raw fuel in it. The tech determined that the motor was seized or locked up. The lack of proper mixture of oil in the fuel had resulted in the "lean seized motor". This voided the factory warranty for the blower because all two stroke engines require oil to be mixed with the fuel as noted on the unit and in the owners manual provided by the manufacturer.
When the customer came in he, was rude to the staff and did not believe us. So we let the customer talk to our supplier which confirmed to him that the unit did not qualify for a warranty claim. Customer was rude to them as well.
When the customer pays his invoice, we will be more than happy to return his leaf blower.

I am rejecting this response because: I was never informed of any charges nor are there fees or charges posted anywhere in the store

The customer brought in a unit for repair and per the $100.00 per hour labor rate sign posted behind the register, was charged for 0.2 hours plus tax for a total due of $21.40 for labor by a factory certified technician. Most shops have a minimum 1-hour labor fee.
Customer ran the unit with raw fuel (gasoline). Customer knew or should have known the 2-stroke engine required 2-stroke oil in the fuel, it’s clearly stated in the owner’s manual and on the unit. This neglect caused the engine to lock-up and voided the factory warranty.
The fact he was rude to my staff and the dealer representative we called and let him speak with to confirm the unit was not eligible for a warranty repair, has no bearing on the invoice generated for the service rendered.
When the customer pays his invoice, he can pick up his unit.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because:
The company did not have labor rates posted anywhere, I was never informed of the charges until I arrived to pick up my blower. they tried to extract money for no services rendered. I was told by the staff that the mechanic looked at the fuel bowl, that does not constitute a diagnosis. It was at that time the counter man became snide . A business should by law should have signage that clearly depicts labor rates and other fees such as diagnosis they have nothing. They could not be bothered to give me a receipt for my property. Their business practices are not aboveboard.
Sincerely,
Larry *******
