On Jan 4 2022, I contracted with Drew Roofing to place wind mitigation straps when re-roofing my house. In Dec of 2022, my house failed a state inspection for wind mitigation. The cost for correcting the work done by Drew Roofing is LESS THAN WHAT **** CHARGED ME TO DO THE *** INCORRECTLY WHILE RE-ROOFING! After a month of me trying to straighten this out, I was told by **** he feels that I should bear the lions share of correcting this work. Hes said something vaguely about offering me $1000 for the needed retrofit, less than half of what it will cost me.

With all due respect **** your review is misleading.  We did not do your roof wrong as you stated. We completed work on your roof over a year ago.  We complied with the wind mitigation report which confirmed you received the double strapping as per your signed contract. This is and was the strongest way to secure your roof at that time and the procedure that gives you the highest savings from your insurance company.  You have been benefiting from those savings for over a year now. Your roof passed both the private wind mitigation inspectors inspection and your roof passed inspection with the city. You did not request clips; you were happy with our job a year ago and you paid us in full. You have a very safe roof that was completed as contracted and has saved you money on your insurance. NOW that the **************** offers a one-time rebate for clips (this is the inspection you are stating was not up to code.  The inspection to qualify for the rebate), you expected us to retro fit them to your roof at no cost or pay to have them done by another company.  Despite this being a very unreasonable request, we went above and beyond.  We did not shut you out or refuse your phone calls.  We took every single one of your phone calls.  We made several phone calls on our own time to the state to try to see what we might be able to get for you on this new rebate they are offering.  We also offered to pay for almost half the cost to have them retrofitted to help satisfy you.  We find it sad that you dont appreciate that you received the highest savings on your insurance. If you had requested the clips a year ago, you would not have received near as much insurance savings but would have qualified for this new rebate. You are not understanding it was one or the other or how accommodating we have tried to be.

I am rejecting this response because:
The straps done by Drew roofing did not meet the minimum nailing, positioning, or other requirements to be considered a Clip, Single Wrap Strap, or Double Wrap Strap. So whatever you want to call it, it is not right. Photos of the poor installation were provided with the original complaint. The roofers wife seems to think this is about insurance rebates; it is about the safety of my home and the homes of others who believe they have done all they can to protect their domiciles.
      Sincerely,

      *****************

Attached please find the initial wind mitigation report performed by **************************** on 2/8/2022.  This inspection took place after we completed her contracted work to do the double strapping to secure her roof.  As you can see, ***************** passed the inspection and there were photos included with the report by the inspector.  She was able to submit this report to her insurance company to receive the maximum amount of insurance savings.  I have also uploaded photos taken on the job for clearer reference.

I cannot understand why in the world this state inspector told her what he did.  I dont know who he is.  I dont know the extent of his understanding of roofing, etc.  Is he only familiar with clips and because he didnt see clips, he said what he said? I dont know.
I do know we did as we were contracted.  I do know she has a safe roof and that a separate wind mitigation company confirmed this.

We cant be held responsible for what this random state inspector said that is clearly not true.  Even so we offered to pay for almost half of ************* work to add the clips. Meanwhile, our good reputation and name is being muddied by this crazy misunderstanding.  We still stand by that offer, but at this point we would ask **** to first remove all the negative comments she has left on ************* Nextdoor, and this complaint with BBB.

I feel for her situation of being a retiree on a fixed income and that is why we are willing to give her some money toward the cost of the clips although we dont feel in our professional opinion, she even needs them for safetys sake.  Her roof is extra safe and secure and the insurance company has recognized that and given her the maximum insurance savings.

I am rejecting this response because:
I paid more than $3000 for doing this job with the shingles off, far more than other companies are charging to re-do the work through the soffits. I do not feel I should have to pay another dime to get this roof fixed.
      Sincerely,
