Stuart Sod was contracted to remove our current sod and place sod and sand that matched our existing sand.12-14-2023 Stuart Sod removed existing grass and attempted sod installation and sand installation. Crew rushed. No supervision. 1) Sustained damage to decking 2) Numerous areas where sod was clearly not installed 3) Dirt and grime all over property. Workers pressure washed dirt into pool. 4) Due to the pressure washing of dirt directly into the pool, had to pay $45 EXTRA dollars to pool cleaner from extreme dirt 5) An e-mail was sent to Stuart Sod on 11-20-2023 explaining that the wrond sand was installed and there were many areas deficient of sod. 5) After countless attempts to correct the deficiencies noted above I was told by *****, the owner, that someone would come out on December 1, 2023 to remove the wrong sand and address the deficient sod areas. ***** called or ever came out after my wife took the whole day off to make sure she could oversee the work from Stuart Sod. An email from me to Stuart Sod was sent on 12-1-2023 reiterating the problems noted above. I also attached damage photos to our decking. 6) I received an e-mail on 12-1-2023 from ****** stating that someone would come by on 12-4-2023. Noone ever called or arrived. Finally, on 12-5-2023 the sand was removed. The people who came to remove the sand did NOT bring sod to complete the job nor did I receive any call from the owner regarding the damages. 7) I sent an e-mail on 12-7-2023 to Stuart Sod regarding the outstanding sod installation and the damages. There has been no response. There is a balance of $468.90 but I refuse to pay such amount. I have to contract elsewhere to finish up the sod installation and get landscapers to re-sand the deck, patch and reseal all of the damaged deckboards. The failure of communication and supervision of its workers is unacceptable and would have avoided the aforementioned problems.

      Business response

      12/21/2023

********************** accepted an estimate for 900 square feet of Palmetto sod and 2 yards of Playground sand.

He paid a 50% deposit to have the job started and was told the remaining amount was not due until his job was completed.

Our crew installed all of 900 square feet of sod and 2 yards of playground sand but ********************** was unhappy that there were no "English speaking employees" on the job and demanded a supervisor. Even though everything was done as he requested. Our supervisor does speak English. Unfortunately ********************** was not happy with their communication due to his "accent". Our owner stopped by afterwards, upon request, to check on the project. Everything was installed as agreed to and the sand was where it was requested to be placed. The crew provided clean up the next morning. It had been storming all week, but ********************** believed it was our fault that the sand located near his pool blew in. We do not believe this is true. ********************** had us install beach sand next to his pool during a storm, sand and loose sod was going to end up in the pool no matter what we did.

********************** discovered once it stopped storming that week and the sand was dry - that the sand we installed did not perfectly match the sand he had previously installed with a different company on the other side of his deck. He said this was our fault and to remove it immediately. Once we had a crew available again we had the sand removed. We also adjusted his invoice taking 48% off of his remaining balance. ********************** also called again complaining that now the edging of the sod was not perfectly flush against the border..by an inch. As you can see in the pictures he provided.  After many phone calls, complaints, and unreasonable demands we decided not to continue working with **********************. He is not responsible for the remaining balance.
