I made an appointment to have my eyes checked and also a prescription for contacts. I never got the prescription for the contacts. Dr. came in and looked at my eyes for couple minutes and said you have really bad cataracts in both eyes.I did not believe that to be true because Ive had no significant changes in my eyes since my last exam. Do you know that this was my first visit there for an eye exam. I have been going somewhere else for years. After I left Mittlemans I got a recommendation for another eye doctor. I made an appointment with another eye. doctor told me I do not have cataracts whatsoever in either eye. They are looking for the balance of ****** to be paid. I have not paid it yet and under the circumstances I dont know if I should pay.Customer response

I also wanted it noted that throughout the exam at Mittleman, I was told by several different people that I have a really great vision. What I mean by that is every time I moved from room to room to be seen by a different technician, they commented about my good eyesight.
I am positive that they miss diagnosed me with cataracts, even deliberately diagnosed me. The fact that I went to another eye doctor outside of Mittleman (who is also a surgeon) and he was positive I didnt have cataracts What Mittleman did was very unethical and I definitely shouldnt pay for their mistake.

I would like it known that my biggest complaint is that I was told I needed surgery in both eyes without having any symptom indicating surgery.
the 2nd opinion by another surgeon was no surgery needed. My eyes were fine.Business response

Patient had an exam. We submitted the claim to the insurance carrier per our contractual obligation. This balance is the patient's responsibility. There will be no adjustment.Initial Complaint

Today I reached out to Mittleman eye to get my contact prescription so that I can purchase contacts. When I called they basically told me that I would have to repay for an eye exam even though I have until 7.21.23. When I asked to schedule an appointment to finalize my prescription I could hear the management in the back saying "tell her she will be charged and nothing else" even though I have 2 weeks before that would be the case. They were extremely rude and unprofessional trying to make a quick buck off of me when I no longer live in the area which is why I could not come back for a follow up. I could understand if I was over my grace ****** but to refuse me of getting my prescription follow up so they could make money off of me when my prescription would expire is unethical.Business response

**************** failed to follow doctor's ****** in December 2021 to be seen by a sub-specialist. He called and canceled his follow up appointment for us on 04/12/22 and attempted to make an appointment on line for 11/8/22 for a reason he was not due back for. He has been non-compliant, disrespectful to the office staff and has not returned phone calls made by our clinical manager to discuss his care.
We are dismissing him from the practice.
