I signed up for splitit through impact cages (dog crates)The amount was charged to my card for first month payment without issues Second month card was not charged due to card error with address.(Nothing changed on card)Emailed customer service, and service chat with no response.Emailed again was told nothing they could do they were charging whole amount.Today they charged the entire 12 month payment plan at once. Against the terms and conditions. After searching found ************************************************************************************ order to get full payment faster.Essentially they are scamming customers.Do not use them.Review from Mike F

I have never had an installment plan where they charge for the amount every month that you agreed to but also put a hold on your account of the outstanding balance, that is the exact opposite of doing a payment plan. They don't tell you that until after, it is very deceptive and I am displeased with that type of snake like set up.Review from Emily J

Had an issue with my card and contacted splitit and was told a deadline to fix it. I fixed it based on the deadline I was given. But found out I was told I did not fix it on time. Found out the time zone for correction was a different from mine. I was not informed of this. All they would do is set up another payment plan that I have to give out the same out I already gave them. Which if ********** type of money, why would I have done payments. My credit card is now getting interest. Which could have been all avoided if the representative told me the correct information.Review from Jeremy A

Service is absolutely NOT as described in the checkout process. There is literally NO reason to use this service as you have to have to ENTIRE purchase amount available on your credit card AND they will authorize for the entire amount so it's not available to use to use! Completely pointless and it will lower your credit score for MONTHS with absolutely no benefit to you whatsoever. STUPID, DISHONEST FRAUD.Review from Karl S

Do not ever use these scum bagsReview from Rachelle A

This isnt a real payment plan option as it charges you the full amount at the outset and at every following installment. Technically, this charge is just a pending authorization, but it will still take away from your available balance. You might as well actually pay the full amount outright because you are effectively paying that anyway. This policy of authorizing the full amount is not clearly stated when you are presented with the choice. The policy is buried somewhere in the ******************* Yes, I should have read the terms more carefully, but this company should not be advertising themselves as a payment plan that only charges a small portion monthly when they are effectively charging the full balance at each installment. No other payment plan company does this (of which I am aware). If you are a customer, dont use this payment option; just save until you can afford to pay the full amount because thats what you are effectively doing anyway. If you dont have the full balance available at the outset and at every following monthly installment, you will face problems with your accounts and potentially be unable to pay other bills. If you are a selling something, I recommend using a different payment plan company. Something like ******** or even just using your own billing platform will give your customers a better experience.Review from Logan M

My credit card was stolen recently. I immediately locked the account and ordered a new card. During this period, however, I received email after email threatening to take action against me for missed payment. I haven't missed any payments, nor am I at risk to. The new card is expected to arrive 5 days prior to my next payment and the account will be switched at this time. There's no way to communicate with Splitit so there's no way to convey this is not an attempt to avoid payment. Given the systems in place for this company and the harassment and threats to it's customer base, ********************** should be investigated for predatory lending.Review from Jaden W

I really cannot emphasize how awful Splitit has been for **** got a ~$3,000 split payment option for a new mattress, and I was relieved to see I could do smaller payments over 24 months.BUT They authorize the full amount... Every. Single. Month. And it takes several days for the authorization to finally give you the money back. So, took out $3,000 with them? Expect to not have that $3,000 in your account and also risk overdraft fees or bounced charges. Thanks, Splitit! Now, here is the actual meat of the story: Without any authorization or notification on my end (seriously), they decided after 3 months that they want to just cancel the plan and just charge the full amount permanently. Yup. After being promised to pay it off over 24 months, they end up taking ALL of it just 3 months in.This is a massive issue. This has potentially ******* me over massively. They genuinely need to fix this and make sure this doesn't happen to anyone else.Review from Bigheaded

So I'm not understanding Splitit, I admittedly didn't do any research before I selected them, so that's my fault. But it was offered as a payment choice on ******.com, which is a very well-known company. So I just assumed it was a good option - my mistake. The reviews here, and 99% of the rest you find if you ****** the company are 1 star, for a reason.I understand how payment plans work, I use ****** and love them. Also used a few other pay as you go options with zero problems. As every other review has said, they initially charge the entire amount to make sure you have the funds. Which I suppose makes sense, but it's a bit puzzling they keep re-authorizing the amount, and at least with the card I used, the hold stays for days and days. After the initial check, why do they need to keep re-authorizing the full amount again? They say it's to verify you'd be able to pay the full amount. But, the reason I'm making payments is so I don't have to pay the full amount. If I charged $1000 and was making $50 monthly payments for 2 years. Why do they care if I have $900 available in the 2nd month, $800 in the 3rd and so on. As long as I can cover the agreed monthly payment why do they care about the rest?As every other review you'll find online, this is not a smooth process. In theory, even if it doesn't make logical sense how they do it. This setup could work if it wasn't for the potentially insanely long holds, and they're monthly at that. I know their robotic responses to everyone here say "we're sorry, but this is how we have to do it" Nonsense, basically 1 week of every month I'll have a stupid authorization for whatever amount is still owed waiting to be released. They also claim in all their robotic apologies that these holds don't affect your credit card. ****, the funds won't be available to you until the hold clears. So every single month, yes my credit card will be affected because I have to remember to factor in a charge, that's not really a charge. But will still significantly lower my available credit until the hold is released. And because I didn't do my due diligence here, I'm stuck with this idiotic cycle every month until the monthly payments are up, or I figure out how to pay it off early so I don't have to deal with this nonsense every 3 weeks. My entire reasoning for using this over ****** was they offered 24 months where ****** only had a 12 month option. I get Splitit doesn't charge interest, but ****** doesn't hold the entire amount owed every month for up to a week. There's no plus to this company I can come up with, yes ****** does do a credit check and Splitit doesn't, but that's not a pro because of the constant holds on the funds. Guess what? At this very moment, no I don't have the entire amount available on my credit card for the purchase I made. But I'll 100% always be able to cover the monthly payments, that's all Splitit should care about. I have 23 more months of payments, I'm not going to have the full amount aviliable ever realistically. ****** is 100x better, I understand for some due to the credit check it's not an option. But seriously, avoid this company like the plague. Right now I'm going to spend every day until New Years attempting to figure out a way to pay this off right now so I don't have to deal with this monthly hold nonsense. I made 3 purchases using them (stupid me) and a full 48 hours later my credit card still hasn't released the hold. Who knows when I'll be able to actually get those funds back to where I can use my card again. Yes it's my fault for not reading the fine print, but I've literally never seen a company that operates like this. Also, if you go to their web site, the way they word everything makes it pretty difficult to decypher how they operate. Basically, in 30 days I won't have the entire remainder of the purchase price available, didn't think I needed to because I knew I'd have the PAYMENT amount. So I guess I'll see what happens then. Since they don't have my SS#, I know they can't ***** up my credit. But honestly, this is the 1st time in my life I'm really considering defaulting on what I owe because of the insane hassle I'm going to have to endure every month for 2 more years. I mean I own the money, but the terms are so assinine I almost wouldn't feel bad skipping out.*awaiting robotic/generic "we're sorry" response. Shame on Spilit for how they operate shame on ******.com for offering Spilit as a payment option and most of all, shame on me for not doing any research before selecting this option.Review from David D

Words can't express the utterly awful design and clear manipulation behind SplitIt. They explicitly make their service sound like other better solutions ******** ****** *** ** ** ******* and more) when in reality their service is set up to have us customers at the disadvantage. They claim to have no ability to refund or cancel our orders, and that it's up to the merchant and gaining their permission. One of their customer service representatives even suggested I should initiate a charge back request, of all things, which is JUST NOT the way to go about things. In my situation, I made a purchase and it was for software needed for my job, to do commissions for people in the music industry. It was on sale for Black Friday for the upgrade I wanted, and I figured, hmm, I can give SplitIt a try, when usually I'd use a credit card. This was a terrible idea. Upon purchase, and after using other platforms like ******, I thought it would be the same. Boy was I wrong. They take the full amount in its entirety and hold it as an authorization. They could pull this money at any given time in its entirety, leaving your money in their hands. In my case, if my full purchase amount was taken out by their leisure, they would put my bank in overdraft, and seeing this initially after making my purchase, it gave me shock, and I reached out to customer service immediately. They affirmed me of the disgusting reality, which is that my payment is in pending and they have fully authorized it in full, and that their service was a wolf in sheep's clothing, completely different from other services I used prior. Also baring in mind, when making my purchase, there was no clear explanation or any type of page that outlines the terms, in comparison to ******** ********* which you cannot miss these terms, and you completely understand how everything works from the get-go. Of course, I could have read their terms, but I just assumed based on their branding and advertising that it would all be the same. Again, it is not.Upon contacting three or four of their representatives, I have gotten the same response: "We'll contact this merchant and there's nothing we can do to speed this process up. Please wait for a reply." They can't even cancel the order or reverse it from pending. IT'S STILL PENDING!! Literally makes no sense why you can't cancel it when it's literally in pending. So, lo and behold, I contact another time, and their customer service reps fail to reply. I was first in queue. I waited an hour and a half before getting kicked out of their live chat queue. Now it says they are unavailable. Most awful company I've ever done business with. They are in no way helpful and in no way care about you as a customer. They want your money.
