Paid a deposit of $10,100 in 7/22 to Mountain Top Roofing for purchase of roof shingles with expectation that roof would be replaced by them within the next several months. To date have not received product or services paid for and he is not answering his phone or responding to my emailsBusiness response

Sorry for the delay answering this! **** has been in the hospital and I am trying to catch up with his messages and emails. We are sorry that the customer has felt it necessary to file the complaint. We have communicated that we intend to get the roof completed in the next 3 weeks, weather permitting. As an explanation, we have had so much rain this summer that it has made it almost impossible to get any roofing done. As a result we felt behind on our installs. Now that we are having some beautiful clear days for the past 4 weeks we are catching up on the installs. We have been performing the installs in the order that the contracts were signed. We pledge to get their roof completed asap.

On December 30th, we contracted a new roof with Mountain Top Roofing and their sales rep. ** signed their contract but shortly afterwards, the sales rep we knew left the company and we could not get our money back. ** have worked repeatedly with Mountain Top trying to get a refund and recently we agreed to a roof at cost since they could not refund our money. They used our deposit on past due debts they owed. ** paid them $6450 down; they finally gave us a $1,000 refund after complaining over and over. They still owe us $5450 and now we have heard the owner has moved back to ***** and started another company!!!!!! His 70 year old father is trying to clean up his mess in GA but now no one will contact us. ** will have to pay for an attorney now. Do not use this company.Business response

Mountain Top Roofing is very sorry that the customer was unhappy with us! We agree with the customer and the situation was our fault. We could not get the roof installed in a reasonable period of time. As of this response we have given the customer a refund on their deposit.

Mtn Top Roofing replaced our roof in Nov 2022. They were not able to install the gutter guards at that time and we were told they would come back at a later date. In Jan 2023 we were told the guards had arrived. After numerous attempts via phone, text and email we have had no luck having the job completed as of late Mar 2023.********************* will not return any forms of communication. I made the mistake of paying in full at the time the roof was completed and have no recourse except to lodge a complaint and to let other future customers know that this company does not finish the job and we would not recommend Mountain Top Roofers.Quite unhappy customers.Business response

The complaint was filed by a Mrs ******** in *********** **. We are sorry that she felt the need to file with the BBB but understand her frustration. We installed a new roof for her in November of last year. After she had signed the contract for the new roof she said that she wanted to add the gutter guards to the house. They were not included in the contract and we said that we would just go ahead and provide them for free. With the weather being so bad this winter it has been difficult to perform any roofing related work, including gutters and gutter guards. Doing this work in the rain or freezing temperatures is very hazardous to our workers. ******* a lot of this type of work we have gotten behind on and are working to catch up. We will be contacting Mrs ******** to arrange a schedule to install the gutter guards as soon as possible.

On 9/3/22 over Memorial weekend, we had a water pipe bust and flood our finished basement. We had to file an Insurance claim on our home due to the amount of damage sustained. We hired ********************* manager of Mountain Top Construction to help get our basement back to living conditions. Will was very knowledgeable of the process with insurance and reassured us he had had many projects such as ours he had worked on prior. Will also informed us we should be back to normal within 3-4 weeks. It is now November 24th and our basement is still a disaster. In a 3 month process all we have had done in our basement is drywall redone and all debris from project left in our basement. Will was provided the insurance money back at the beginning of Oct which has already been processed to his company. Will did have a Mold remediation company come in and perform work early Oct because Mold was found due to Water damage being present so long. Mold Remediation was complete by a separate company within 3 days and should have not prolonged any construction to our basement by Mountain top construction any longer. Over the 3 months we have reached out to Will numerous times without response from him. We have taken days after days off work waiting on his team to arrive only to not show up due to many excuses. The lack of communication and organization we have endured is caused our family a lot of hardship and put us in a financial bind. On 11/22 ********************* called to advised he will not be able to do the scope of work on our basement insurance paid him for due to no availability or crew. We are now left with no Insurance money to hire a new contractor and a basement in destruction.Business response

We at Mountain Top Roofing are very sorry that our client is not happy with the work that we performed for them. The project did take longer than expected. Due to the water damage in the basement there was mold that had to be remediated and mold tested negative before we could begin the reconstruction process. In the world of construction it is almost impossible to stick to a schedule in the mountains in the winter.
As of this date the project is 98% complete and we have communicated to the customer that we are prepared to complete the work whenever they like.
The job is being paid via the homeowners insurance claim. We were paid an initial amount by the insurance company of $2650 to begin work and currently have an estimated $20,000 that is owed to us for the balance of the job. ********************* has communicated to us that the second of 3 checks for the job was sent to the homeowners in December and that payment was not forwarded to us. We fully intend to complete the final 2% of the job but will expect full payment from the homeowners at that time.
