I have been a patient at multiple locations with multiple providers over the last 12 years. All in all, I am sure I have paid this facility thousands during this time. I went for my annual physical, which should be covered as preventative care, but received bills for several hundred dollars. When questioned, I was told it was my responsibility to know what my insurance covered during the ONE phone call I got after several contact attempts from me by phone, portal and even fax. I was assured I would get a call after my fax was received showing EOBs that said you do not owe this amount (which I got confirmation when through), but never did. I asked why I was not provided with an estimate if it was not covered and was not given a clear answer. They woman I spoke to was extremely rude and not even remotely trying to help. I work I healthcare and understand insurance more than most, so if it was complicated for me I cant imagine being a regular consumer. I paid for the lab services which were OON (was also not given an estimate for this or OON form that should be provider per ***** but left the remaining balance of $159.14 trying to discuss the details with billing, but never could. I just continually got past due mailings. Out of respect for my providers, I did just pay this bill. But patients beware, though the providers there are EXCELLENT, their billing practices and department are absolutely abhorrent. In the end, this practice has lost a patient over a $159 dollar bill, clearly patient care is not their top priority as a business.

I made a routine wellness appointment with ************************ from Laureate Medical Group (Holly Springs). My **** (account # ******** amounted to more than $180 after insurance was settled. I discovered over $100.00 of this was for unauthorized vitamin testing. I am a 40 year old athletic and well-dieted white male, which is an extremely low risk category for vitamin B-12 and vitamin D deficiency. I was never told these unnecessary tests were being done to the blood being drawn, nor that such testing had an opt out. I never would have authorized this extra testing. I called to remedy this with the doctor, who wrote in his notes, in response, that he apologizes if he didn't mention it, "but he usually discusses this, and everyone usually wants this." I have asked multiple times that this be removed from the **** after discussing the issues, but so far this has not been remedied. I have no recourse, and so I am filing this most egregious complaint. I have provided the ********** Blue Shield breakdown of the invoice, showing an out of pocket expense of $66.57 for Vitamin D testing (1st line item) and $33.90 for Vitamin B-12 Testing (second half of the page) and the current status of the invoice, showing other items paid the other items in full and that I still "owe" the $100.47. I am seeking a billing adjustment accordingly.
