We have been unsuccessfully trying to contact Sommerer regarding a faulty breaker box. Our electricity has intermittently gone in and out since last year throughout the entire home that was completed in October 2017. Weve had another electrician since come out to locate the problem and theyve determined it is the breaker box installed less than 4 years ago. Sommerer has not returned phone calls or has answered the phone and not said a word until we hang up. At call back the phones ring twice and go to a voicemail explaining to not leave multiple messages. We are trying to have this problem resolved without taking legal action against this company as this is a very unsafe condition.

      Business response

      08/01/2022

This morning, Monday August 1st, is when i say ****************** Complaint regarding her inability to reach us regarding her electrical issue.  I was not aware of such a call into our warranty office, and when *****, our **************** Associate, arrived this morning, she also did not know of a missed call or message form **************.  Not saying one was not left, but none that she have record or memory of, and certainly not missed or deleted intentionally.

I first instructed ***** to contact the Builder's warranty of ****************** home to see if they were contacted by her.  Due to her builder's policy is to normally have the ** call them first.  Which we did make the call and they had not received any call from **************.

Secondly, I ask ***** to check any records of such a call that we may have received from the ** since she stated its been a reoccurring issue since last year.  Which again we have no such call of service request referencing such an issue.

Finally, before we called **************, we verified her information she relayed regarding here address and closing date, which was correct.  She closed in October of 2017.  We wanted to verify this due to the age of her house has put her past her warranty period.  The October will be 5 years since her closing date, and 3-4 years out of warranty.  4 Years on panel / gear (breakers).

***** then called ************** to apologize for not getting her message and to go over her concerns.  ***** ask her to explain how long & how often the power would intermittently go off.  Also who was the other electrical company that she had come and evaluate the issue, and what they claimed?  She could not remember the name of the Company, but it seemed to have something to do with the Breaker Box & the Main Breaker.

It was at this time that ***** informed ************** that her warranty had expired.  ************** ask how long was the warranty?  ***** then explained the coverage of one to two years from the time of closing, and that we would certainly set her up an appointment to verify the issue and quote the repair cost.  However, it was then ************** stated , since she was out of warranty she would contact another company to fix the problem.

I am sorry for not receiving her message from last week.  However, such an electrical concern, per her own admission, began last year.  Four years after closing & living in the house with no like issue.  Meaning, it's very very unusual for such and issue to linger for such a long time before showing itself.  Its's more likely to arrive after certain weather related events, such as Thunder Storms with lighting that cause surges that can weaken such Breaker protection.  Such as the weather we are experiencing currently.  We are also receiving such calls due to storms causing a verity of power issues, and not from just our past customers, but all over the city.  Again, just a likely possibility.

Should we be of further service, please let us know.

      Regards,

      *******************
