I had a brand new American Standard HVAC system installed 5 years and 3 months ago, when I bought my house. Today, I find out the coil is leaking and needs to be replaced. Today, I also found out that, although American Standard advertises a 10 year warranty, if you don't register the warranty with them within 60 days of installation, they arbitrarily cut the warranty in half. I didn't even sign any documents agreeing to these terms; they've just decided that this is how their company operates. Thus, they claim that my warranty is three months expired, and I'm on my own. Even if this is legal (I'm not an expert on warranty law), it certainly isn't ethical or good business.

We had a new American standard HVAC unit installed on May 10 2022. The unit had a coil leak and ran all the time . My electric bills were averaging around 350 per month till the new unit was installed. After this high efficacy unit was installed my electric bills went up to 550 average per month. I called the installer and they found a faulty coil from the factory. I called the company and sent all requested bills . They have not called me to resolve this. The company should pay for my over charges on electric due to the failed part. four months at 200 per month.

Hi, this is **** with American Standard heating and air. This is not the American standard HVAC company you think it is. We are a private owned HVAC contractor company. You are referring to American Standard the manufacturer which is owned by Trane. We just happen to share similar names and this happens all the time. Please contact Trane about your problems. Thank you.

Good morning, I believe you have the wrong company for the review. Based on the context of your complaint it is assumed by me you had a company local to you install American standard brand equipment. That is American standard manufacturing, more formally known as Trane. I also believe you are in Virginia. We are American Standard *************** Cooling, in ******* *******. We are just a ************ that installs HVAC systems and we happen to have a similar name to American standard manufacturing. You also posted the name of the installing company local to you and your state. We would kindly ask that you take this complaint down and re-post it to American standard manufacturing profile. You can also do the same to Trane  if it makes it easier since Trane owns American standard equipment.

I hired this company to install a new AC unit in my home. They installed it in May 2021 with a 1 year maintenance, 3 year labor, and 10 year parts warranty. 1 week after the install the unit shut off because water was accumulating in the drip pan and the emergency water shut off valve triggered. Upon inspection I noticed they did not level the drip pan and they did not replace the drip pan with an new one, they reused the old one. I wasn't happy about it but I asked them to fix it and they came to level the old drip pan and to make sure the drain were draining. They came and fixed the issue.Several weeks after, I was starting to get insulation in my vents each time we would turn on the *** Went into the attic to see that when they came to level the drip pan, they caused the air handler to now not be lined up with the Furnace therefore the seal was broken and there were holes allowing insulation into the vent system. I called and they came to fix this issue. The problem started when I was unable to get a paid receipt from day one, I requested a receipt over 5 times in 6 months and they would never send it. I need it for tax purposes as well as warranty records. after the last attempt was made and they failed again to provide a receipt I changed my 5 star review to a 1 start review. The owner since then sent me texts that since I put a bad review on him, he would void my warranty and no longer service my new Rheem Unit so I am stuck with a **** unit without a warranty and company to service it. This is a breach of contract.

      *****,

We are (still) sorry you feel this way in regards to your install. However, the two items you mentioned, the minute issues, were correct promptly, post-install. We do appreciate you notating that these small concerns we addressed and fixed by our team. However, this negative review stems all over a paid receipt, which you have received form us since the writing of this response. This delay in getting you this paid receipt, which is due to the fault of our office, is the reason from you changing your 5-star review to 1-star is ridiculous yet comical. You harassed our office with "if you don't do this, I will do that" and that's unacceptable. You messaged us stating if you received the receipt, you would retract your review and leave the original 5-star review, which you did NOT do. Instead, you blamed it on us for "blocking you from changing your review" as if we would block you from restoring your original review. Your desired resolution of refunding you $2,500.00 for this job, which only totaled $4,100 for a completely new HVAC is system, is DENIED, and also comical. Your manufacture warranty is not voided due to us, it is due to you. You have a certain amount of days to register your system with the manufacture to activate your 10 year warranty through them. It has nothing to do with us. Your failure to register your own equipment is of no persons fault other than your own. Similar to buying a new TV from a store. You have x amount of days to register the model with the manufacturer to gain your extended warranty, or, you lose it. After the demeanor we received from you and your accusations, we simply stated we would notify the manufacture of failure to register warrant within required time window after install. It is the responsibility of the end user/consumer (you) to do this, not of the contractor.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I hope the public reads your texts I attached so they will see how you are misleading everyone.

After 6 months and 5 attempts with acknowledged promises to do so, I felt like I needed to change my review to get your attention as I need the receipt to A. File with taxes for tax deduction and B. Register my warranty!.

I have since found out that any professional company would have not only emailed me the receipt immediately but used their portal to register my warranty directly. You even mentioned you could do that. Why didn't you? Instead you ignored me and the postured when you got called out.

Instead of apologizing, you bowed up and escalated everything. Then you sent the receipt while I was in the ***** and even if it had been 4 days for me to respond, so what! You were not exactly timely in getting me what I needed. But in 4 days you had enough of seeing my legitimate review. So you decided since you have not heard from me that you would block me and then tell me you were voiding my warranty. You actions keep escalating this and now I can not trust that you will do anything you contracted out to do moving forward.

Your quote does not mention requirements by the consumer to get anything. You quote clearly states I will get the product, warranty and labor for the agreed to price.

I am requesting BBB arbitration at this point as clearly, this company has no intentions of fulfilling the contract items listed.
      1. I am supposed to have a 3 year labor warranty that American Standard is providing yet he is rescinding
      2. A 10 year manufacturers warranty that he says is void due to not providing a receipt for 6 months.
      3. 1 year maintenance that I currently need and can not get.
      4. Proper installation of a new drip pan as this is done during a new install.

We will go to arbitration now and a third party can decide.

I believe a third party decision would be great. Thanks for reaching out, and have a happy holiday season!
