On 1****** I spoke on the phone with ***** of ******* ****** to confirm when the late fee will be posted for rent. I asked if it posted on the *** or *** and she told me that it actually posts on the ***, which was great news to me as my partner did not get paid until the ***. As we tried to pay rent on ******* I saw that a $***** late fee was posted to our account. I called the office to ask why and was told by the same lady that the late fee posted that day. I told her that if I was told the correct date initially, I would have taken money out of my savings and paid on my own until my partner could reimburse me, but I did not find that necessary since I was told there would be no fee until the **** She did not apologize or take accountability for telling me the incorrect date a few days prior and when I asked to speak with someone else, I was told nothing can be done. I find this unprofessional and unfair as we now had to pay an extra **** because I was told incorrect information from someone who is supposed to know it. The rebuttal was "it is in the lease," which is not accessible for guests ever since switching to the new platform "AppFolio Portal." The old portal allowed me to access my lease easily, but it does not work anymore since the switch and the new platform does not allow us to see our lease on it. Me being unable to access my lease is why I called the office in the first place because I figured I would be given credible information. Even if she was unsure, I would have appreciated the transparency but she quickly and confidently told me "the ***" which is why I did not question it. I was told my only hope was to email a regional contact, "****************.***," and see if anything could be done. I reached out twice to no response which furthers the unprofessionalism this ***pany exemplifies. I waited a month since then to see if a $***** credit would be posted, but there was not. Is there anything that can be done about this? Thank you so much!
