      I lived at Lenox for 2 years, rent was due by first and late by the *** I thought. the last couple months I paid on the *** or the **** I always walked my check in and spoke. Not once did management say I was late from Feb-May. I put in a 30- 45-day written notice to move out. However, because I was still in a lease, they would not prorate the last month. So, I paid $1272.00 when I did not live there which is understandable, I was in a lease. I still felt they could have worked with me; I left the apartment very clean and took pics. 3 1/2 months later I received a bill for $305.00 for late fees. They said $50 day anything after the 3rd and $5 day everyday thereafter. 3 1/2 months later. Their breakdown is: $230 late fees, carpet cleaning $140, housekeeping $185 (ridiculous amount) sub total $555. offered me $250 deposit and still wants me to pay $305.00 One lady on phone told me not to worry about it, I asked for a zero-balance statement. Said she couldn't do that, then billed me 3 months down road. Also, rent jumped up almost $200 last 6 months.

      Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2022/09/12) */ The late fees accrued as follows: February, check dated 2/4/22. $50 late fee on 3rd, $5/day late fee on 4th = $55 March, check dated 3/5/22, $50 late fee on 3rd, $5/day late fee on 4th and 5th = $60 April, check dated 4/4/22, $50 late fee on 3rd, $5/day late fee on 4th - $55 May, check dated 5/5/22, $50 late fee on 3rd, $5/day late fee on 4th and 5th = $60 Total Late Fees: $230.00 Carpet Cleaning Fees: $140.00 Housekeeping Fees: $185.00 Sub Total Due: $555.00 Apply S/D to balance: $250.00(-) Total Due: $305.00 ** Rent at Lenox Properties is due on first and late on the third day of each month. This is very well outlined in our lease agreement. Regardless of what was said to Ms. ****** when she came into the office, her rent was late, as noted above. She was provided copies of the checks, dated accordingly. We had transitional management on site during the first few months of 2022 but that didn't change any policy or requirement outlined within the lease agreement. We are unable to offer a billing adjustment. Consumer Response /* (3000, 11, 2022/09/13) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) As I mentioned in my original complaint, no one ever told me rent was late. Ever! 3 months after I move out and pay a full months rent I was contacted by Priscilla asking me for $305.00 , when I questioned it, I was told not to worry about it. Then turned around and asked me again for the money. I've never received a statement not once in the 2 years at Lenox. Had I known I was late in February, rest assured I would not have been late again.
