Received estimate for $15k kitchen reno & $2500 flooring install. Paid deposit of $8750 on *** **. He asked for half of remaining balance for electrical. I gave a total of roughly $4700 cash between 27 *** * * ***. Between ** * ** ***, crew did most of flooring & most of wall between kitchen and another room was removed. Told me he'd ordered kitchen cabinets on * ***. Next time he came to "work" was bringing a countertop company in for a quote on * *****. I continuously asked for budget & status updates. My son & I demo'd the adjoining room ourselves to try to get project moving. Sent him pictures on ** ***** saying we did this work for you, can you start the pantry. Finally on * ***** he called and asked if I still wanted the pantry door to be a pocket door (as his crew suggested during the very beginning of the project), except now said it was $600 extra. Pantry was framed that day. He came by later to ask if it was OK. Said he'd found some pressure treated 2x4s left from another job so he used those to build the pantry. I explained again the urgency of finishing due to family coming to town. He said it looked like a lot, but was going to finish quick. Last week of *****, he sent someone to drywall the pantry. They pieced it together with scraps left from other jobs. Someone came to mud 2 days later. No second coat done. Someone came later that day to sand. Did some but said was wet & left. Never returned. No drop clothes used so mud & dust covered the hardwood floors. No one has come to do any work since then. House is disaster of boxes of stuff in rooms that can't be replaced because work not done. Countless no shows and weeks of silence during this time. Millions of excuses of why not working/communicating. Finally paid someone else $750 to come finish/fix the pantry drywall and paint. Requested refund of $9000 multiple times so I can hire someone else to finish. Asked him to buy materials (cabinets & countertops) instead because I know he spent my money.

******* $9000 Floor repair and LVP was to be laid in kitchen. This was required for home to be sold. James D**** refuses to send an invoice for the job he attempted to do. We now must remove EVERY inch of what he did as there are multiple holes in the floor. He added over 400lbs of self leveler (we paid for product) to the floor. He changed the direction of the LVP and then asked us to purchase additional LVP as he ran out. The floor is unsafe and unstable. Mr D**** refuses to complete the job in a timely manner. We waited for 3 days for the final floor to be done. Mr D**** kept us waiting at our house for hours with no communication as to when he would return. He has verbally assaulted us via phone and text. He has attached our character online. We have pictures of holes and painters tape he used to cover holes that he said he had laid with proper flooring.
