      Please fo not buy an Orton Home They will not help you fix things they are responsible for Terrible Hone builder as farm each thing out My cabinets never did get fixed Now my stove thats gas has never worked and they told me they checked it for a gas leak and now 2 yrs later they never checked it just said it worked alright so i have spent 500 to try to fix it and now need to buy a new gas range that has gas issue and was never checked before i moved in I could go on So many neighbors have had issues Tore the bathroom up and left it for a year before coming back to fix the leak Think twice!! They are not good with customers and shoddy work

      I strongly do NOT recommend this company. We were told they could build a home in 150 days but might need extra time due to supply chain issues. We waited 356 days to be able to move in to our house. The contractors urinated in our basement floor drain causing the furnace and ductwork to rust. Orton's "solution" was to scrub the furnace "really well" yet they didnt even do that. We still have no screens in our basement windows. The contractors were smoking illegal substances while building the house and brought their young children while doing construction. The siding was buckling and falling off our house, a third party contractor came up to me while I was outside to tell me that siding was not supposed to look like that. We filed our siding claim at the beginning of June, they didnt come out until the end of September. Orton's rep said all the siding needed to be replaced but they only repaired a few sections. The repaired sections look just as bad as the previously installed siding. Last Friday they sent contractors out unannouced- despite us repeatedly requesting 24 hour notice. Our daughter was home alone and had a panic attack because of the unexpected noise. We had to have a friend translate for us because we couldn't communicate with the contractors. If you use Orton, hire an outside contractor to inspect everything and make sure you get everything their reps say in writing, because they will tell you things and not follow through, or charge you extra, and deny anything that doesn't have written documentation. I fear we have invested in a money pit that will drain our finances after the warranty expires. At this point we no longer want to live in our dreamhouse. I would give 0 stars if possible. I look forward to Orton's reply to this review because it will be in stark contrast to what actually occurs, they will likely claim to "stand behind thier homes" and "strive for highest quality craftsmanship" but I am not interested in their platitudes.

      Where to start. From the beyond the process I was not impressed with their service. I had specifics that i wanted in my forever home. I made my requests clear and during the initial meeting Tim took my information, but the quotes of pricing was not for the option. Example I requested a barn door and the quote was for a normal bedroom door to be hung. Now why would I want a normal bedroom door as a barn door. I did not find out until the 2nd meeting about this and had to pay an extra $500 to get an actual barn door. The amount of delays they had also made this process frustrating. I was in an apartment and did not make it a secret that my lease was up at the end of June. I had to go month to month for 2 months and then had to go to a hotel for 3 weeks with 2 dogs. With all the delays it cost me an additional $4000. During the building process I had to stay on top of them with my choices. It was like they never looked at the spec sheet. Final walk through was a waste as they still had a list of items to be done and then we did another walk through the day before closing. They had nothing completed from the week before. I was told everything would be done the morning of closing. Nothing was. I immediately sent a text to my realtor with items that needed to be completed. I had a meeting with Pedro and we had it set for everyone to be here 10/5 to complete the list. Pedro had me listed on 10/12 which I said I was going to be on vacation. I now have to wait until I return to get the list of items fixed. Also they did not have the state inspection done for electrical before I moved in. Paperwork to Mid American Energy and the county assessor was not done correctly. Save yourself a lot of money and headaches and find a different builder.

      I'll preface this post by stating I have never one time left a review before. But my experience with Orton has been so frustratingly bad that I had to warn others. Orton will abandon you the moment you close on your home. Not a soul will be there to answer an email or even a phone call. The business is more of a scam than an actual company. Everyone of our neighbors who has used Orton recently have all had the same experiences we have.We were assigned a worker named ******** to be our point of contact and after a couple months of not hearing from her (despite our basement currently flooding) I finally had to go into the office to get something done. The repair then still took several weeks to be completed. ******** was responsive for that day and then went back to completely ignoring us right after. If you have the misfortune of having ******** be your customer rep then I highly suggest you request a different person. ******** WILL ACTIVELY IGNORE any and all emails and calls unless you go to the office. Her laziness is simply unmatched. My neighbors have said the same thing about her. I have since had to go into the office 1 more time to attempt to get literally anything done. At that point ****** began to help us and she has assisted with getting some things accomplished. She seems to be the only one there who cares. *** is apparently the manager there so we have included him on all emails but in true Orton fashion he has never once said a word. We sit here today having lived here for 7 months and we still do not have our exterior painted. Our interior looks like it was painted by someone who's never picked up a paintbrush (which they are refusing to fix). We have no sod. We have had electrical, plumbing, AC Unit did not work, and flooding issues. We have had carpet laid so poorly that my 2 year old daughter was able to pull it up with her bare hands.Please don't make the same mistake my family did. Do Not buy an Orton Home.

      While we had an ok experience while building, pray that you don't have any warranty issues to turn in. We have been trying to get responses from them for over 6 months with nothing. There's always an excuse "that person is no longer here," "she's on vacation this week," etc.. NOTHING gets done. I truly feels like if it is going to cost them money to fix something THEY didn't do properly- they are going to avoid you. I've asked for other people to call me back. Nothing happens. Absolutely terrible customer service.

      There are so many things to list about how crappy this company is, but I'll only list a few. They did not provide a port-a-potty for their workers. The contractors used the floor drain in the basement to pee in and sprayed pee all over our new furnace causing it to rust. Orton's fix was to wipe down the area. Now our new furnace, that we paid extra to upgrade to a better model, is rusting due to their contractors peeing on it. The **** contractor couldn't even run insulated flex without messing it up, it was crushed and would not work. Plus they put in the wrong filter size and had to redo the return duct system. All of which we had to find and point out to them ourselves. We had an agreement with Orton on how the front steps and side walk were going to go in. They forgot and tried to charge us $800 to correct their mistake to get the steps and walk way to what we agreed on. Our house smelled like weed several times due to their contractors smoking in our house. There's no communication from Orton at all. Dates don't seem to apply to them or they don't care. Originally we were told 150 days to build a house. We signed the purchase agreement April 23, 2021. Our original closing date was December 1st. We finally closed on April 14th, 2022. It took a week shy of a year to finish it. There was trash and construction debris through out the build that other home owners in the area had to clean it out of their yard constantly. There's so much to say negative about Orton. If you use them walk through your house while it's being built as much as you can, and if you don't know much about construction have someone with you that does. It will be up to you to provide quality control and be prepared for lots of unexplained delays. This is just a part of what you can expect from this company.

      We are sorry to hear that this homeowner is unhappy with the process and outcome. Orton has policies and procedures in place that are to be followed such as no smoking in the house, etc. Unfortunately contractors don't always follow these and we are not always able to pinpoint the culprit but do take this very seriously.

      If there was something discussed but a change order not done or it wasn't built into the original cost, anything that would vary from the standard would require an extra cost. If there was a miscommunication on this we do apologize. If you were charged twice for something please let us know and we will make it right.

      If there are still items that have not been addressed or are not correct please reach out to the customer care department so we can address these individually.

      Orton Homes stands behind their homes. There have been many uncontrollably factors that delayed builds through this industry over the last couple of years. We do apologize that these have contributed to delays in your build.

      This experience has been the worst home buying experience weve ever come across. There was zero communication throughout the whole process and they never got back to us on simple questions. We flew up from ***** with our toddler and baby for them to cancel on us the day before because they didnt think they would have enough time to finish. The day we were leaving they told us that we could still close on the original date. The only apology Ive received is from anyone is when I told them that no one had apologized. Its insane that a company is run this way. I could go on and on about the problems weve had. And their warranty system is a joke. They tell you to put in a claim but then never hear anything. And then you have to call and then they send you the incorrect contact information. We even had a superintendent come out to make a list and he said he would get things done and get us a list a couple days later. Its been two weeks and theyve gone silent again. I dont know what else to say other than how sad it is that they are letting them run this company this way. Something needs to be changed so other homeowners dont have to go through this.
