Let this be a warning to anyone who may be thinking about the 99 cent offer for 6 months online subscription to any newspaper provided by the Hearst Midwest Media group. They have made it impossible to cancel the subscription. I have been trying for months, calling every phone # and extension they offer to get these charges stopped. Just when I get close and the recording says hold for help/operator, it automatically disconnects the call. WHAT A SCAM! They auto debit your bank account every month $15.99 for what was at one time a 99 cent offer, and you cannot get them off of your bank account! I've had my bank account for 18 years, and it appears my only option after months of failed attempts to stop these debits, will be closing my bank account. Beware of the Hearst Media Group, they are tied to several different newspapers throughout *****************. Do you research before signing up for any on-line newspaper, especially if it is provided by this company, it will cost you far more than what you anticipated and you cannot get them off your bank account!Business response

Researched this situation from our side. Unable to find a record of customer requesting cancellation- however, we don't doubt their veracity. Will investigate our customer service processes whereby she was unable to get in touch with one of our local staff who could help correct the problem. Situation is resolved from this end- refund of full amount of payments is in-process, and we have confirmed this satisfactory resolution with the customer.Customer response
