Came here at 11:05pm June 14,2022. Employee snatched my phone,my property, from my hand during a food pickup without asking permission to even touch it and then proceeded to cuss at me UNPROVOKED to leave when u grabbed my phone back for not physically handing him my phone so he can see it better when he was verbally told the order information and shown the order from a safe 1 feet relatively close social distance. I never raised my voice or cussed at him but he was extremely hostile and aggressive with me,pointing at me to go away and yelling profanity after profanity. This facility promotes (Black Lives Matter) but on more than one occasion (other reviewers have stated they were treated poorly due to being black) they have been openly discriminatory towards African American individuals who step foot in The Aberdeen Tap.The night this incident transpired I had to file a formal complaint and make a police report for verbal assault and emotional distress that I endured.I was alienated, verbally assaulted, and treated as if I was a second class citizen all because an employee named ************************* felt he was entitled to ****** my phone out my hand and refuse to give me the orders I came in for due to his own personal reasons. I was intentionally given poor treatment. I have the entire video of said employee verbally assaulting me unprovoked, for documentation purposes. If no contact or resolution is set, will virally post video on social media to warn others of this selective poor customer service from this business.

To Whom It May ****************** are dedicated to treating everyone that walks into our bar, whether a delivery person, a salesperson, or a customer, with respect and kindness; so when we hear of someone having a poor experience, we take it seriously.

We have taken the time to review the complaint through witness accounts and employee statements and would like to share the following explanation of events:

The person who submitted the complaint came into our bar to pick up a delivery order and tried to verbally tell our employee the order number. Our employee could not hear her as it was busy, loud, the bar itself was between them, and she was wearing a mask. When the delivery person handed her phone forward so our bartender could see the order number, he went to take it from her hands to better see (which is a normal interaction with delivery personnel when they hand their phone to a staff member). The delivery person was not on the same page about this exchange and began yelling at our bartender about touching her property. Our bartender raised his voice back to her telling her that he cant help her if he cannot see/hear the correct order number. Our bartender offered to leave, which he did for a few minutes to allow someone else to assist her, our other employee at the time also offered help, but the delivery driver refused. The delivery driver proceeded to call the police and file a report of what happened. When the cops spoke with our employee, they expressed that they have heard her grievance but didnt find validity in it having any basis in racism, let alone needing it to involve police.

For future, we have reiterated to staff that they ask expressly and clearly to see the order on the phone as to not have the interaction misunderstood. There is, however, no excuse for a member of our staff to raise their voice at anyone. Please know that we have taken action and are maintaining a conversation with our teams in an effort to constantly do better. We maintain our zero tolerance policy for discrimination and continue to be a place that welcomes anyone for a great time in the neighborhood.

Please let us know if there is any further information you need from us at this time.

      Thank you,
