We closed on a new construction home 11/22 in which Jean's Septic installed the septic system. We noticed issues with pooling of sewage in our back yard in April 2023. We got the municipality involved in May 2023 as ****'s stated the pooling was run off water and not sewage. The municipality tested the "liquid" and determined it was waste. ****'s went back and forth with the builder, Delani Construction, over fault and ultimately agreed to repair the issue in June 2023. The municipality stayed involved and returned to check the repair, only to find it was not done properly and further damage was done. ****'s again agreed to repair the issue and has ceased communication at this point. The last communication was October 2023 in which the builder was told there needed to be a week with no rain. Here we are at the end of February 2024 with optimal weather conditions, no response from ****'s and sewage continuing to pool in my yard...

First we are a licensed contractor. The service we provided mandates permitting and inspections from our local county. We obtained this inspection and received a passing installation. If the system was installed improperly the health department would have failed it and thus never issued an occupancy permit. We also met with the homeowners and the local county official at the residence where it was made known to the resident that all inspections were approved. Secondly the issue with the septic is due to the general contractor improperly backfilling and grading over the system, which was not included in our original contract. The general contractors excavator hit a few areas of the installed system and broke a few pieces. Jeans Septic has already replaced those broken pieces free of charge. Jeans Septic also tried to work directly with the homeowner when they were not receiving responses from their general contractor to recify the issues that arose due to negligence in final grading. We stated we would help to regrade the entire system with the correct topsoil and grade it appropriately so that pooling would not occur. Also there is a downspout drain that drains directly towards the installed septic system, which is in violation of the terms of our contract. Jeans Septic was still working at this time of this complaint to rectify the issue as with the types of services we provide we are at the mercy of Mother Nature. If the ground is too wet or frozen we can not perform our services as a machine in these condition will cause extra damage to the worksite area. We find this complaint harassing and slanderous as we have never not tried to help alleviate the issue which was not any negligence of this company. Jeans Septic has also reached out and explained a signed agreement would be required as to what we were willing to help with would entail and a statement indemnifying us from additional damages to previously completed landscaping that will need to be disturbed to rectify the grading issue. The homeowner was unwilling to sign this agreement and took to slandering our company name across media platforms.

I am rejecting this response because it contains falsehoods and misrepresentations of facts. I have attached the Will County Heath ************ report on the issues concerning my septic. As documented on page 3 by the investigator, "The repair by Jeans seems to not have been done properly". Also documented on page 3 by the investigator, "***** contacted me stating Friday (7/21/23) they will repair septic. The report continues on page 4 stating that the investigator was onsite to observe the new repair and it had not been done. Then the final entry made by the investigator states that on 8/4/23 he received notice from ***** of Jeans that she plans to repair today, to which he replied a permit must be pulled for the new repair. To date, a permit has not been pulled and the repair has not been done. To say from 8/4/23 to 2/28/24 the weather conditions have not permitted the repair to be done is absurd. To go on to say my complaint is harassing and slanderous is preposterous. I absolutely filed this complaint and went on to review ****'s on social media with the same complaint as it is valid. ****'s contacted me and my husband after seeing the reviews, but would not respond to us prior to seeing the reviews. ****** and ****** asked my husband to remove the reviews, to which he replied that it can be discussed once the repairs are complete. ****** then went on to say she would send some sort of contract, that we never received, that she required to be signed before she completes the repair. My husband said he would not sign anything without our lawyer reviewing it first. Again, we have not received a contract, nor an estimated timeline for repairs. All we want is for the repairs to be completed and the septic system to function properly.

      Sincerely,

      Shepale *****

We never said we would not do the repair the health department is asking. We are not in agreements with the backfilling of the system after our final inspection of the system, that was performed by a separate entity. I am speaking with the health department on liability of their firm from the final inspection of the home prior to occupancy.

I am filing this complaint on behalf of my mother, *********************************.On May 27, 2022, my mother called Jeans Septic concerning an apparent sewer backup in the lower level bathroom. They did not explain anything to her regarding the cost of the service call, hourly rates, work to be done, etc. *********** apparently tried to rod out the toilet without success. Instead, they called a plumber who had a longer rodder and then left the home. They charged my mother $240 but the invoice does not include any breakdown as to how this amount was calculated. Given that Jeans Septic did not complete the repairs, it is unclear as to what we paid for. We believe that the cost of work performed should have been explained in advance and on the invoice.

For my response we always provide customers our hourly rate prior to even going to the home when they ******* schedule an appointment. The issue wasnt that we couldnt get the job completed we did try to rod from a pulled toilet inside the home as there was not an access anywhere else to rod from. We informed the homeowner that the blockage was further down the line, and that an outside clean out be installed on the main sewer line to better access and service her sewer for this back up and and any future back *** or service needs. Rodding cables can only go so far and then loose the power to get through blockages and clear them appropriately. This homeowner also never reached out to myself to inform me of any displeasure they had with our service or give me the opportunity to explain it right the situation.

Please feel free to contact me with any further questions.

      Thank you,
