On January 11th, I had an eye appointment exam with Advanced ******** (N/K/A AEC). At the appointment, I provided my medical insurance (Anthem BC/BS) and **************** (VSP Choice). I was informed my insurance went through and I owed a $150 downpayment.I was examined for medical contact lenses (I have been diagnosed with Iris Atrophy), I was informed that my insurance probably would not cover the specialty contact lenses and that they may run as high as $500/lens.On February 21st, I had my next office visit with AEC and was charged $120.00 for that visit which was paid after being billed. I brought a pair of medical contacts home with me to try and was not charged as Dr. ***** advised that I try wearing them for a week to see if they helped with my glare issue. After one week, I returned them because they didnt work. In April and May 2024 I received a bill for $3,400; $2,300 for my first office visit on 01/11/2014 and $1,100 for a pair of contact lenses which I no longer had in my possession. In July I received another $3,400 bill. I contacted ******** (contracted by ***) and spoke with ******: 1.On 01/30/24, 02/05/2024, and 02/12/2024 InstaMed contacted *** to advise them that my diagnoses code for the eye exam would need to be changed in order for VSP Choice to cover it; AEC never returned InstMeds calls.Reshande told me that my office visit on 01/11/2024 for $2,300 was not covered by VSP; had I been told that my visit would cost me $2,300 out of pocket, I would have walked out. I told Reshande the bill is outrageous, and I wasnt going to pay it. Reshande indicated that theyd probably write off the $3,400. Reshande said VSP Choice won't pay because my diagnosis was medical. Had they tried billing my medical insurance (Anthem BC/BS)? No.I have not received any EOB information from Anthem BC/BS that my *** claim has been submitted; its now 08/31/2024. I dont have any $1100 contacts in my possession, yet I am still billed for them!
